I'm a Christian, and I'll be in Korea next month, and I was hoping to get involved in a Church but from what I've been reading, what I know Christianity to be is not what it seems to be there.. |
Vanessa,
There are some really great sincere churches in Korea, try not to let this group put you off churches in Korea. There are some other threads here recomending churches in Korea. Here is one that focuses on English speaking services, I think there may be some others:
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=467&highlight=churches
Just keep in mind some of the signs of an unsafe group:
Overlylong time commitments, an idea that their Church offers the Only path to salvation, sole focus on recruiting and donating (money and time) and a leader who turns the object of worship onto himself and who claims somekind of 'special' knowledge known only to him/heself. If you notice any of that happening, then it's time to look elsewhere |

The cult has booked Suwon World Cup Stadium for a tournament on Sat March 19, which at least one team of foreigners is considering participating:

do you remember the tournament that I set up near Seoul? GACP korea sets up new one at coming March 19(Saturday) at Suwon Worldcup Stadium. Do you want to join? Let me know a.s.a.p. |
And earlier reference to another tournamnet with 10 foreign teams taking part :

This is update about the oneday league in e-cheon on the 13th of Feb. I would like to have your agreement of participating in the 4th IPCE Soccer League hosted by GACP21.
Pls send me your id number for me to fill the application form.
Plus I have still 6 or 7guys who said yes to join. And we need to pay joining fee for it.
200,000won for each team. There are about 10 foreigner teams in the league.

Guys if you wanna donate 200,000 won to a guy who is wanted for rape and fraud by Interpol, who thinks Hitler did a good job and who thinks he is Jesus, well you certianly found the right organisation

From Seoul Broadcasting Society (SBS), last month I think
It contains some previously used footage, but the shots of the assault on the father of the guy who runs the Korean anti-jms site are new.
http://antijms.or.kr/
They used the pic from my site, Yay!
Also some shots of a night cult event in Korea which even after two years of cult watching blew me away!
Too many people there, tens of thousands? More even?? |

Thanks for your interest Tiger!
Good question, the short answer is well everywhere.
The Looooong answer iiiiiiiissssss:
The JMS / GACP cult which this thread is primarily about is mainly a university cult. The leader is a serial rapist and the younger the better.
Most of the people I met my first year in Korea where recruited on campuses across Korea and while at school. I imagine they operate at pretty much every large Uni and women's universities especially.
I got an email recently from the sister of an Ewha Womens' University student who was recruited into the cult on campus and subsequently dropped out of uni and ran away from home to live with the cult. Her sister and parents have seen the above video, so.... well you can imagine what they must be going through. The above video and others has resulted in JMS being about as welcome in Korea as Aum Shin Ryoko is in Japan, so they do not, can not operate openly. Non-students mingling with students inviting them to concerts or photography shows. And once they get some student members they take on recruiting work as well. They change the names of their groups all the time so basically any cultural or sporting festivalyou go to could be organised by the JMS cult. (Big on soccer these guys) They could be operating on my own campus and I'd never be aware of it, they probably are infact. But by golly if I ever hear of them here I'd go absolutely ape-shiiiit!
This particular cult also targets high school students and I think I mentioned somewhere above a specific branch that specifically targets chicks under 17.
JMS like many other cults usually have a rural retreat which keeps new members secluded to give their indoctrination methods time to work. JMS's is south of Daejon, just by Daedun-san, 20km from Guemsan, itself 26km south of Daejon. Place called Wol Myong Dong.
Dahn-Hak have a mountain Temple somewhere, Jung San Do are based in Daejon.
JMS, Dahn-Hak, Jung San Do, The Moonies to name a few operate everywhere.
The first two openly. I doubt you could walk 3 blocks in any city without seeing either a Dahn Centre or a Jung San-Do branch.
I seem to see them everywhere I go. When I need to take a leak at night I usually try to do it on one of their doors.
Speaking of Dahn-Hak, on Sunday after the expat party I met the guy that wrote this article:
http://www.rickross.com/reference/dti/dti42.html
Funny cause I was totally Crying Gamed! I was expecting that person to be a chick. Thats why I didnt get totally wasted on Sat night, I thought I had a date the next day! (He said he was a chick!...can't complain I have a few chick email addresses I use to email JMS members when I'm bored, plus you cant be too careful when slagging off cults that kill people) I was really excited about meeting this chick:
I put on aftershave!
I'm running low on Joop, so I don't use it lightly!
Anyway she was a he. And an interesting guy too. He runs round Korea taking pics of Dahn events. He's had some crazier experiences than I have, well almost as crazy. I'll try get him to sign up here, he's got some interesting stories to tell!
Well I'm out of breath after all that, time to stop,
Bye Tiger!! |
