What's great about this victory for an English neutral is that it isn't part of a season where one team dominates the domestic game.

Chelsea were 37 points clear of Liverpool in the premiership, and Arsenal won the FA cup- if Liverpool can win the top prize in Europe this season then it says a lot about the amount of talent playing in England, and the amount of quality English players around right now.

It doesn't matter. England will still find a way to lose the World Cup.

The English League has been the best in Europe for ages.

I can't watch a Serie 'A' match. It's like a chess game. Prima lige in Spain is not much better. And who's interested in the French and German leagues except for French and Germans?

A lot of the biggest names in football hint that they would like to play in England but I think many are scared to. Too tough and fast.

They used to say that sarcasm was the lowest form of wit, I think there's a strong case that it's actually SarcasmKills.

But if that was true then an english team would win the Champions League and UEFA cup every season- best to watch isn't the same as best. Seems like we're learning how to do both now though.

Well seeing how the recent pope doesn't have much life left in him, I guess we can pencil in another Champion's league victory for Liverpool within 2-3 years! Twisted Evil

I dont really think the World Cup is Englands to lose..They have only got past the quarter finals once in over 35 years.

But what British teams lack in technique, intelligence and nous, they more than make up for with the sheer grit and determination. Pool need to offload Traore,Dudek,Hypia, Baros, Kewell and a few others..
Alonso is class though and if gerrard stays, they will have a good midfield at least

I saw the game repeated on TV last night btw- one of the best matches in recent memory I can't honestly remember ever seeing a more exciting cup final.

Dudek makes too many mistakes and by the looks of things he will be gone in the summer or at least replaced by someone who doesnt mess up every 2 games

yeah referring to Dudek. Not wanting to be a stick in the mud but he blatantly cheated in the penalty shootout he came really far off his line. I couldnt believe he got away with it.

Oh come on!!! Cheated? That's a little much. Every tender in every league tries to get away with as much as possible before they're whistled down. Just like every defender grabs jerseys or gives a gentle push under the ball...if they don't call it, you do it until they do. Welcome to pro sports...
