and!!!!! for!!!!! your!!!!! information itg, WOG is a chiefly disparaging term. probably derived from gollywog, also standing for 'Western Oriental Gentleman' (i.e the 'Western' Orient being the India, Pakistan and Middle East i guess). the fact that it groups such a diverse people together makes it offensive to many, and therefore if you give a monkeys about people's feelings you might be more careful in using it. |

Itaewonguy is not the most coherent person even at the best of times, but I did in fact spring to his defense because in Australia, (to reiterate) a wog does not equal a black person.
In the UK, it's terribly offensive word because it's understood to stand for "gollywog" (you might as well use the "n-word"), and in Oz it's only slightly derogatory and refers to a whole other group of people.

emmm good point! I dont really know.. becuase people in canada or new zealand say they are kiwi or canuk but family trees say they are from England or scottland etc... new countries.. so lets say.. umm 500 years!

This was on Page 2.. and with all the discussion about Miss Canadian of Russian ethnicity.. I'm surprised no one mentioned Miss Italy with Dominican ethnicity or Miss Germany with Iranian ethnicity.
That would seem to be more controversial than a 'new world' country in the americas or even pacific australia that is all immigrants from everywhere anyhow. |

My ancestors have been in the new world for close to 200 years- If I went back to England , where my father's line is from, or Ireland, where mom's line is from, and tried to claim I was either- I'd get laughed at for days. Both of those countries are quite old, yet there's not really any sense of ethnicity there (not in this century anyway) |
