I just got the harshest dear John letter (through email no less) from my girlfriend back home. I guess it's a big relief and it saves me the trouble of doing it myself (but dammit I always lose my good CDs when I break up with a girlfriend). Now I won't feel so guilty going out partying.

So how did any of y'all break up with your significant other (or did you) when you came to Korea? How long did it take from your landing here to the "call" or the "letter"?

Please share your stories.

I sent her an e-mail saying I had started seeing a girl over here. Not the best thing in the world, but everyone (ie friends and family) was telling me I needed to tell her, so I did. She hated my guts for the first few months afterwards but now we talk from time to time.

Told her I was staying for at least another year, and she didn't like that.

Called the real estate agent and told him that I wanted to sell my house.

He had to tell the ex to move-out as the real estate firm was now the legal property manager as per my directions.

She stole my TV, Refrigerator, washing machine, sterio, VCR....etc.

Guess one good turn deserves another.

All ancient history now. Twisted Evil

I broke it off with my s/o before I came here. We'd had a big fight just before we left as I had been unfaithful and he was a bit annoyed about that. I called him the night before I left but he heard I was leaving through the grapevine. Despite this we're still on really good terms

She was going to come to Korea with me but kept stalling. I soon figured out why.

She slept with my best friend, and had a new boyfriend on the side on top of that.

She begged me to come home, which I did, only to find out she thought I would not come and it was all talk.

I got home on Vallentine's Day and she was "busy" that night.

The next night, found out she would sleep with me, but it had to be a secret.

Screw that.

Back to Korea I went.

Hey, this sounds similar.. my ex-girlfriend from the first time I went to Korea was something like this.. she missed me horribly until I decided that I was going to make my way home.. after my quitting notice and some brief travels.. I went back to find that she had started dating some guy in her apartment building.. actually, she didn't tell me, and she kept disappearing a couple times a night to take out the trash, get something at the store, etc.. then a few notes were around, then she had to go watch tv at her new friend's house, and.. well.. basically it took me about a total of 10 days to two weeks to figure it out, have her tell me about it, resolve that its definetely messed up, and get the hell out of there quick!

I sold her to my old hagwon director. They keep her chained to a desk and feed her fairly regularly. Good deal.
