Coming to Jejudo for a few days this weekend and next week.

Can anyone recommend some good places to eat and stay, sites to visit; and what should I definitely not miss while I'm there.

Also, if anyone in Jejudo wants to meet up for a few beers and shoot the shit PM me. I'm buying.

I don't live there, I've only visited, but....

Be sure you go to Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) in Seongsan, on the eastern edge of the island. Climb to the top (well, walk up the stairs) for a stunning view of the ocean and a volcanic crater. If you can make it to the top at sunrise then even better.

More importantly, from Seongsan you can catch a ten-minute ferry to neighboring Udo. Udo is a gorgeous little island with three different colored sand beaches, one pulverized coral, one regular sand, and one black sand beach (pulverized volcanic rock). If you're lucky, you may even see some of the �س� (women divers, ajummas who can dive 15-20m underwater and hold their breath for 4+ minutes) who live on the island. You can rent a bicycle on the island and bike around it in a couple of hours. Don't miss Udo.

Hallasan is also great. Beautiful foliage. Great views

Chejudo also has a really nice folk village. It's a replica, but it's really well done.

Cheju City is really nothing special as far as I could see. The quicker you get out of it, the better.

I have no special recommendations for hotels. I go for pretty low-budget yeogwans and minbaks and such, it shouldn't be too hard to find one anyplace on the island for W30,000 or so.

One more thing, if you can, rent a car or a motorbike to get around the island. It's a fairly big island, and getting around by bus and taxi gets to be a pain after a while.

Also the two waterfalls around Seogwipo in the south are pretty cool...if it has been raining a lot.

Especially the one that is going into the ocean. that one is impressive

Some nice hostels around Jungmun resort in the south. Some kitchy sites such as the teddy bear museum and a miniature park. Jeonjeon falls is very nice; the second fall is the best and the third isn't worth the walk. There's a dolphin-sea lion show too around there that is fun.

I realize it's too late to answer the 1st poster's answer,but I loved Jeju-do so much,I want to share with the other readers!

Fist of all, Jeju island is great for its subtropical fauna,the palm trees are exquisite and the whole island has a tidy,well-manicured look!

There are lots of forests, a couple of great botannical gardens and some real nice nature sites with refreshing,bracing springs! (Forgot the manes,though!)


For recreation/relaxation stay or visit the Tourist Complex in Seogwipo.It has a very nice beach that has ankle-deep pink--yellowish sand. The sea water is very salutary,salty,cool and and emerald in colour!

Also in Seogwipo you will find Yeomiji Botannical gardens, Jungmun Folk Village(Sea Village Museum) and humorous Teddy Bear Museum.

However,I was not too impressed with the waterfalls---nothing special!

With regard to culture, Jeju Museum of Nature and Culture in Jeju city is a great way of learning about all aspects of life on Jeju island! In fact,you should start with this museum to get a good preview of the island!


If you like mysticism and spirituality,you should visit Samseonghyeol,supposedly a spot where progenitors of three main families on jeju appeared from the ground.

The coast where the Hamel's ship was (supposedly) wrecked- wild rock formations and huge sea bugs. Art museum nearby with lots of outdoor sculptures is very good (sorry the name escapes me and I'm too lazy to look it up); ditto on the black sand beach.
I think all of these are near each other on the SE? part of the island...
