I'm sure there are many of you out there than can pick a Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese etc out of a crowd of Asians. But how many of you (particulary the guys) can pick out a room salon girl on the streets?
Personally I've never been, but have found out that some of the women I associate with work or have worked at these establishments, and they have taught me the tricks to spot them.
hmm... is this something I can put on a resume?

a room salon is a drinking establishment that men go to to spend stupid amounts of money, and have hostesses sit with them and pour them drinks, sing karaoke, and just amuse them.
there are differing scales....
at the cheaper places they do strip shows, you can pay for sex.
upper scale there is nothing sexual...

a weird concept, but some of those girls are real lookers

oh, i've always called that a "hostess club". my first month in Taiwan I met a fellow alum of my university who thought he would take me to one of those and impress me. i was pretty unimpressed.

Speaking of which, you know what I haven't seen yet in Korea? Beer marketing girls. You know, the ones wearing bright green (short) "Heineken" or "Tiger" dresses and handing out free coasters in the bars and going from table to table encouraging drinkers to choose their brand. Do they have these in Korea?

I been to an RS a few times (I wasn't paying thankfully), on one occasion it was behind the Chosun Hotel, quite a famous RS district. The girls indeed can be stunners. However I'm not sure how you could recognize them on the street, Korea is overall very conservative and I just can't see any of those girls wanting anyone to know what they actually do,

I'm curious, what are the traits that give them away?

I'd say they wear just that bit too much make-up. They also walk around buying clothes and make-up during the day. A single girl with a job can't do this. A married woman won't dress so sexily. So if you live in an area with room salons, and there are sexified girls walking around in office hours......maybe they are.....ladies-of-the-night....

I know many work in my neighborhood, Daechi-dong. Near Seollung station. How do I know? Well, I asked my hairdresser, who speaks great English, why does his shop always fill up with good-looking girls at about the time I go. Around 8pm. He told me all the room salon girls in the area go to get their hair styled and make-up done before their shift each night. That's why there were so many hairshops too. I had never put the two together.

Eamo,

your probably right, I live in an area that doesn't really have a large RS district, so don't really have anything to base a judgement on. I was dating this girl a few years back that lived in Kangnam and said that most of the girls in her building worked at an RS. She went on to say that you could spot them at 3am at one of the hair dressers around the corner from her place getting their nails and hair done. I got the sense that they slept most of the day and where night owls.

We still haven't hear from th OP yet on how to spot em....
