Meet Rebecca.
She gave me a hard time today.
I wanted the class to repeat questions which I was saying, but she insisted on answering them instead.
No matter how impatient I got, and no matter how loudly and clearly I said, "Repeat after me," she continued to answer my questions.
Finally, she caught on to what I meant, but she continued to answer my questions anyway, just to aggravate.
This isn't the first time I've had this problem.
Usually it's the other way around: they repeat when I want them to answer!
On future occasions, how shall I express "repeat" or "answer"?
Shall I illustrate the word "repeat" like this?
Yes, I know the Korean words for "repeat" and "answer," but I can't use them, because a cardinal rule in my class is:
ѱ

Since the girl did understand what you wanted the students to do, the problem isn't in what you say. The problem is with the girl's behavior. Do you have some control techniques that cover infractions of acceptable behavior?
Or you could have the class repeat the question, then designate one student to answer. |

Maybe with two sock puppets?
Puppet one: How old are you? Puppet two: How old are you?
Good!
Puppet one: How old are you? Puppet two: Five!
No! (angry face)
You could also have puppet two listening intently while puppet one is talking to illustrate that it's about listening well and repeating. Maybe puppet two will listen in real close, after puppet one finishes talking it'll give itself a satisfied nod, then face the students and repeats what puppet one said. |

Thanks, Mith!
I'll try that.
You're the first person today who has answered any of my posts without cursing, bold-facing, and solid capitalizing. |

yea I did the sock puppet thing but I didnt know the korean words!
I reckon you could use the korean words only a few times to TEACH "answer" and "repeat". Just so they know what each word means. But the sock puppets do work too. (Note: you dont actually need socks!) haha |
