I'm from out of town and want to know if COEX is worth being the target of a day's fun. I've heard it is a great shopping mall.

I find that by the time I travel to Seoul and take care of little business, there is only time for one more thing. Is COEX worth this?

Any other suggestions for one-off things to do - will be greatly appreciated.

It's pretty good for shopping and eating - there's all the major high street stores there, a massive bookshop with a great foreign language section, and a whole host of restaurants and food courts.
There's also an aquarium, cinema and a food/gimchi museum to keep you amused.

But given that everything is indoors then I recommend it for a rainy day - go out and see the palaces/temples if you haven't already done so!

There's a much smaller but similar shopping complex at the Central City Complex attached to the Express Bus terminal, though it's not really recommended for a daytrip.

Unless you're a real fan of shopping malls, I don't see how you could spend an entire day there - you could see a movie, eat, go to the aquarium, and shop...that'll take a while, but not all day.

I live pretty close to coex and go there fairly often. But now they've closed down the Coffee Bean, and frankly I'm just not ready to talk about that yet.

I'm not a fan of Coex. Mind you I'm not a fan of any shopping areas in Korea though. I suppose if you have lots of money to blow, love shopping, don't mind the crowds, and fit into Korean clothing....then hell maybe you'll like it. Sounds like a living hell to me though.

that burger joint in there that advertises as being super healthy because it doesn't have any canned products in it or msg is a laugh.

its way too over priced tho (so's teh whole mall tho)

The movie theatre is pretty good in terms of both sound and picture quality, almost enough to spend how many hours it is standing in queue to get tix.

Love the book store, that's about it.

The entire population of Seoul seems to go to the Coex saturday and sunday. Avoid the weekends.

After about 10 trips there I've yet to get into the cinema. The lines are Xtreme.

Bandi and Lundi has the best English section in Seoul for my money. Expensive though.

The aquarium is pretty good.

Chicago Bar and Grill is good for a western food treat.

The kimchi museum is at Coex. I think it's worth a visit!

The COEX is a nice place to just chill or shop if you have the cash. I've never had any problems seeing a movie there...

But I will say that Evan is probably one of the best CD shops in the city. Mind you, there's only about 3 decent ones, so there's not much competition.

Spent this morning in the wonderful aquarium with my kindergartners. I recommend it.
Ideally I'd like to walk round it when no other people are there- because of the noisy crowds of koreans screaming and shouting at the sharks etc.
Or maybe I'll just leave this noisy country altogether and go diving in w. Australia, with a few hash cookies. Could do with the peace and quiet...
