Who is Tim Sebastion? Is he related to John Sebastian? I always liked "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?" and "Rain on the Roof". |

That that said, unlike Tim Sebastion, he does editorialize, meaning he provides commentary based on his opinion, and far from purely objective.

I googled up Tim Sebastion and now I'm more confused than ever. Sorry.
First, I got this:
From a press cutting on Friday June 21st 1996
Sacred Sunrise - Archdruid of Wiltshire, Tim Sebastian, leading a druid ceremony on Solsbury Hill
Fair enough. I often get my political views from druids. The trouble is, the guy in the photo doesn't have a mustache. So I figure he isn't the guy you referred to.
So I went on down the list. And here is what I found about another Tim Sebastian:
Quote: |
Tonight at 11.30pm on BBC TV News 24 HardTalk, Tim Sebastion engages Ehud Barak, The Former Israeli Prime Minister. In a hard hitting interview Tim Sebastion pulls no punches as he accuses Israel of Gross Human Rights abuses - the wanton destruction of Palestinian homes; Olive & Orange Groves; the destruction of the food chain in Palestine causing the deliberate malnutrition of thousands of children. He accuses them of the collective punishment of thousands of innocent Palestinians which he states is in direct breach of the Geneva Convention. He accuses Israel of openly defying International law. Below is a textual extract typical of the exchanges throughout the interview.
TS 'In the refugee camps more than 5000 people have been made homeless during the Intifada through demolitions, were they all criminals?'
EB 'No, not necessarily.'
TS 'No! Because if they weren't Israel is then guilty under Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention of a war crime. Because that article says no protected person may be punished for an offence he or she has not personally committed and if you bulldoze their house to the ground - you are punishing them!'

That is NOT editorializing? Could you give me an example of what is editorializing? Apparantly my education is deficient in this department. Since this guy is editorializing, I figured he is not the Tim Sebastian you mentioned.
Two strikes and I'm out. Please point me to the non-editorializing Tim Sebastian you were talking about. |

Tim Sebasti[a]n hosted Hard Talk on the BBC until recently.
He grilled anyone brought on the show.
Never knew his politics, and that's the point.
Objectivity.
He didn't write editorials a la Friedman, and it was his example that the poorly attempted, so-called "No Spin Zone" with O'Reilly tries to emulate.
Hardball with Chris Matthews is the closest we get in America, but even that is largely focused on America.
As if the median between left and right in America is a true median of anything. It's, for lack of a better description, "contemporarily arbitrary".
As such, that's exactly how I view Friedman.
Not as the compass pointing to what's right, but as a dial between two stations.
Nothing to get cocky about. |
