True. Good luck.
NOt true. My current univeristy has a 40% british teaching staff 1 aussie and the rest are canadians/americans
My first university had 2-3 of each nationality |
Super Hero, it's true. Think about how many Brits, Irish, South Africans, Kiwis or Aussies you know. How many of them work at a university? Now think of how many Canadians and Americans you know. |

Rapier...it still wouldn't hurt to send out all the applications. Many jobs advertise for the standard American w/Master's but I bet they can't land them all. I know some lads and lasses who only have a B.A (no celta or anything) and maybe two years at a hagwon and they landed uni gigs! But I think their natural charisma and enthusiam helped. Though you may not get a job at a place like Seoul National University without a Master's, I suspect there are many other unis or colleges that will take a great, enthusiastic teacher.
I only have a B.A in English (no celta or TEFL certificate) and 2.5 years teaching experience here. But I am going back to the States to finish my Master's in English this August. Then I'll probably come back and see what goodies I can snag. |
yep..I'm quite sure i can get a half decent uni position. I have a few months left to prepare my approach, will take a nice holiday in Argentina I think..come back and sit on my savings and take as much time as I like to land the job. Its just a matter of bearing out my remaining hogwon days now..not taking them too seriously.
PS weatherman: whats MS- Masters in sociology? |

I'm sorry to hear that. I hear some Mary Jane may help to ease your symptoms. |

I know this has probably been done before...but I'm interested to know all the same, by way of survey.
Just state your Uni job description, Nationality, and your quals, and experience. It'll be interesting. I'm finally aiming at a Uni job in the next few months or so. Although I have a suspicion that Uni's here overwhelmingly employ North Americans with Masters' from american Unis. |

Oi!, Master of Science (Magister Scientiae) , in Geography of all things. The CELTA has 100% been helpful, focused my teaching. |

Rapier,
After I came back from Australia, I had offers from Korea, Thailand, China and Taiwan. I took a position in Taipei City. Yeah, it worked out for me in the end. |

-Visiting Lecturer, Department of Languages
-Canadian, 28 years old
-B.Ed (Secondary) in English Language Arts
-M.A. in TESL/TEFL in progress (yep, it's distance; nope, i don't care about its "reputation")
-1 year Canadian public high school, 3 years hakwon, 6 months editing, etc
I'd say my school is decent for other nationalities, too- not just NA. I'm sure a lot of others are similar, so don't let that be discouraging. |

| I have a B.S. in Chemistry and a pretty decent looking science resume (I'm working at Stanford now), but no formal teaching experience, just tutoring and the like. Does anyone know of universities that teach science in English? Might I have a shot at such a place? Thanks. |
