Ram was a failure. If I take my 64mb out, and put in one of the 256, then computer won't boot and I get a long beep. It will boot if I put the 64mb + 256mb in, but then the computer only shows 64 mb in total (won't recognize the 256) My guess is that while my computer may support 384 mb ram, each slot will only support an total of 128mb (3 slots x 126mb = 384). Anyways, lesson learned...always check the details. My friend wants some more ram for her computer, so I think she will take my new ram, and I will go to the electronics market and get the proper stuff. Fun fun.

Bummer.
The bright side is that maybe this is the kick in the pants to get something slightly less... antediluvian.

One should really look for specs on a computer site, not a cheesy internet store or whatever that link takes one to. I've seen sites like that mess up specs all the time. It's too bad....many people must get duped when they buy things that aren't what they seem.

Ok...Thanks for all the responses.
Here is what I am going to do when my ram shows up.

1) Take out my 64mb pc100 ram
2) Put in the 2x 256 pc133 ram (just on the odd chance it will work).
3) If that doesn't work, only put in 1X256 pc133 ram and my pc100 64mb ram, giving me a grand total of 325 mb ram.
4) If this doesn't work, only put in 1x 256 pc133 ram.
5) If this doesn't work, put back in my 64 mb pc100 ram, and hand out my new ram to the homeless.

Thanks again for all the help.

What a coincidence, I'm actually homeless right now. *hint* *hint*

Well jazblanc77,
My boss is checking into if the ram can be returned for a refund. If that doesn't work, you can have it all for 50K (paid 75k for it). Here is the link to the ram if you want to check if it's good for you:

pm if you are interested.[/quote]
