I enjoyed the movie (it came out in the US a couple days before I came to ROK) but it's main flaw is the same as the book's --- too short! It gets you all excited and turning pages, then it just ends in a rather silly way. I loved the casting of the movie.

I too thought the casting was great...

Yeah they omitted a lot but what do you expect?

I thought it was decent.

We just returned it to the dvd rental store today. It's been out in China for a while in shops.

Hey! It's in Korean theaters now (megabox, artereon). Don't delay, though.

I absolutely loved the whole series of books. Never got into the television version. I'm pretty excited to see the big screen take on the sci-fi masterpiece. I won't forget to bring my towel though...

Dang, I thought I saw a poster for it in Seoul last weekend. I didn't have time to go investigate though. Dangit!!

Has anyone seen it playing in Gwangju?

Weird. I guess it opened Aug 26. I only noticed a review for it in the IHT's Korean insert Friday. Seems like it closed already at Megabox and Artereon in Sinchon (went to both theaters on Sunday and no dice). However, this morning I was looking for the theater hosting the Seoul Film Festival. The English on the guide said the "hollywood theater". But it turned out not to be at that theater. I guess they must have used an old template or something. But then I did notice the movie was playing there. What luck. Saw it at 11:40 am. I thought I was going to be the only bloody person in the theater but there were about a dozen people. (It's actually a huge theater!)

Half of the audience were cute single, artsy type women... So a heads up for those looking.
