I see that GnB head office is recruiting for various branches. I don't know which branches, but I will give a warning against accepting any offer from one branch. It is in Incheon. The owners were Mr. Kim and his evil wife Mrs. Tae. I worked there over two years ago, and my experience was a nightmare. I'm ashamed to say this, but so negative was my experience there, it almost turned me into a racist. Never had I been treated in such a cavalier manner as I was at that school.

GnB seems to be everywhere now, and there might be some good branches. But be absolutely certain that you never sign a contract with the branch I worked it. The contract will be violated at every turn.

I wish I could give you more a more specific location, as there may well be many GnB branches in Incheon. It was situated not far from Dongincheon Station. The owners (names above) have two sons, and the mother is short and skinny. Neither her nor her husband speak English beyond a few basic sentences.

I don't wish to deter anyone from working at GnB, but I feel a responsibilty to warn you again these two owners. Be ABSOLUTELY sure that you avoid working for them.

All the best.

Yep, each branch is run as a separate franchise. I worked for a GnB in Pohang, and they were the franchise-of-choice there, as they had a reputation of generally being good and fair employers. However, that was entirely due to the personalities of the franchise holders at that time and may have changed since then.

I gotta say that the books are pretty crap, though. I mean God forbid them actually checking with a native speaker for typos before they send it to the publishers Rolling Eyes

I worked at GnB one day a week. The director was awesome but the books sucked, If you want to teach anything be prepared to wing it and photocopy. GnB books suck.

Yes, the books sure are crap.

But worse is the patented GnB system, which is patently useless. The conversation teacher has to start from scratch with the wh questions. Many students of several years standing can't say I'm fine thank you.

They have mission statements hanging in prominent places, making the whole scene seem fraudulent.

GnB owners tend to be johnie come latelys to efl and all they have to offer is Confucian thinking.

Yeah, I agree. I heard that one of the GnB franchise schools on Jeju Do was a nightmare to work for whereas I myself had a fabulous time at a GnB school in Pohang.
