How about Michael Gross, Family Ties?

Cool 'cos he had been a hippie "back in the day" - and still remembered it.

(...and having Meredith Baxter-Birney for a wife didn't hurt none, either...)

Which TV Dad had the hottest wife?

I don't care if she wore bonnets and long dresses all the time, because Caroline Ingalls was the bomb. The best thing about Charles Ingalls was his wife. Hot, hot, hot.

Capt. Stoobing (?) from the Love Boat. Actually I never liked him, but was really envious of his daughter whatsername (Jenny?) for having free run of her own cruise ship, even if it was inhabited by lots of has-beens.

Not strictly a father but:

Denver Pyle as "Uncle Jessie"

They don't come much cooler than that.
