I want to do the CELTYL to upgrade some skills with young learners.

It's October 10-21, 2005 in Bangkok.
(I haven't told my director yet, but it'll be non-negotiable. Wink )

Anyone wanna travel down together?

I've gone to a new country to do the CELTA (New Zealand) by myself and it was a lot of fun, but it would've been nicer to do the airport, transit, accommodation with someone else too, especially if it's also your first time there.

I don't like to drink much unless it's tea, so I'd be no great partying partner (except perhaps the last night).

Anyone who has passed the CELTA is sane enough to be my travel buddy. Very Happy

Tell her you'll be too busy to go to the seedier parts of the city. If the CELTYL is anything like the CELTA then there will be little free time to do anything but sleep.

And tell her it's cheap! Airfare, accommodation and the course fee will total about a million won, maybe one and a half at most.

(This is starting to sound like we're talking about your mother. "Ask"? You mean "discuss" the option, don't you? Wink )

I don't know what your future plans are but the YL certificate will look good to future employers as a sign of professional development, even if Koreans have never heard of it, they appreciate education in general.

You've taken it?

It looks just about as crammed full of stuff as the CELTA: teaching every other day, a couple of major papers. The difference is that it's over two weeks instead of a month. Half the workload in half the time equals the same experience, or so it seems.

Nice to hear it might be very manageable timewise. It'd be nice to use the weekends to travel to the good beach areas.

Bump.

I know it's crazy to go to someplace 30+ C in October when we've just begun to recover from a long hot summer here in Korea, but...

Surely there's a CELTA grad around who's tempted to do the CELTYL.

It's not offered often and surely no closer to Korea nor cheaper than Thailand.
