How do you get one done if you are not in your country (I am Canadian)? I called my local police station (in Canada) but they said they couldnt do it as I was not in Canada. Any ideas? |

Contact a local atty. Make arrangements with him or her. |

There has to be a better way than that. |

I have the info but away from here-I will provide it within a day or so-it does take longer for the authorities, however |

It's a pain in the ass, but you need to send a fax to your local police detachement requestion them. I tried to get my parents to go in and do it as well as calling them myself. All I got for my efforts was a stern talking down to by some desk pusher.
So... send them a fax and in a day or so, get somebody you know to pick up the information and fax it back to you. The cost is something in the neighbourhood of $25. |

When I was a social worker in the state of missouri in the U.S., I was often able to get complete arrest record checks in a given state by faxing a completed form approved by the state, as long as my client signed it. Some states wouldn't allow it, but usually if you just call bureaucratic government agencies and plead your situation (being out of Canada) they'll let you know if they have a form for it or not right away, and almost certainly avoid having to hire an atty to do this for you
Admittedly, I don't know much about the difference in our bureaucracies |
