Hey, just wondering if anyone knows if I need sealed transcripts for every contract I signed or if immigration keeps they on record. For example, if I work at a camp, than sign a 1 yr contract at a school. So do I need 1 set of transcripts or 2?? |

Interesting question. I don't know the answer for sure. However, this is what I think. If both jobs are processed through the same immigration office then MAYBE you would need only one set. If your summer camp job is in Busan, and then you get a full-time job in Seoul, then you would probably need another set of sealed transcripts. I say this because anytime a person gets a new Visa immigration requires that you resubmit your degree.
Just a guess on my part.

From the way Imm. does business (and from what they told me on the phone), you would need to show sealed transcripts each and every time you apply for a job.
Thats why this idea is not a good one, because for those teachers that leave jobs in mid-contract will have to go through the same process all over again. That means they have to continuously show sealed copies to the same people over and over again.
I don't think it should be imm. responsibility to check, it should be the individual schools that provide the background check.
Unfortunately they can't be trusted with such a process
sad... |

Ya, I came to that answer as well. It just makes too much sense to have them on record, or at least on record that they saw them. Why the hell cant they just notorize them or stick their stupid stamp on them and be done with it.. ahhh well.. hehe just a rant.. i am better now. |

I can see immigration taking a long time to come to grips with this transcript thing. Unfortunately I don't think they're going to shelve it entirely, but they should at least streamline it to make it less bureucratic.
One sealed transcript envelope should be enough for an E2, and all consecutive ones thereafter. |

In the eyes of a korean, a job should last longer than one year, unfortunately, after one year, a teacher is looking for greener pastures.
So that is why I don't see them streamlining anything.
I think will also have the effect that it would discourage teachers from bailing from a contract as often as they normally do and would encourage hogwons to provide better conditions to keep the teachers once they get here.
But I feel the latter won't happen and I feel korea will soon get the reputation as one of the worst places to work, worst than what it is already |
