I travel with Korean air on my recent trip down under. i have to say they were pretty well behaved.

Though cries of chuwah chuwah as we made our way into buses in the freezing cold that is aucklnad winter (17 celius) was enough to make me want to smack 'em.

My pet hat on korean is that every time there was turbulence they insiisted on turning on the lights and making an annoucment to fasten your seat belts. When i've travelled with a western airline they'll do it once and afterwards they'll get crew members going through and checking rather than waking everyone up.

surely if you're flying from from Korea it makes no difference whether you choose Korean Air or another airline, you'll still get a similar number of korean passengers?!

(spot the person who always flies Lufthansa out of Korea, but this time is flying KAL)

Not always, SJ... Korean people tend to fly Korean Air or Asiana.

I've always found that there are more Europeans on Lufthansa than Koreans... but then we mostly fly business.. so may be that's why.........

I don't know if its jsut for New Zealand. But my flights to and from Auckland (direct) was about 50/50 Korean/europeans. I talked to a few of them and the cheapest way for most europeans to get to kiwiland/oz is on korean air. A few kiwis were travelling to eastern north america via korea too Shocked

On other flights I've taken out of korea to tokyo/singapore/osaka/bangkok on non korean carriers have been a case of 'where's whitey?'

Just got back from Hong Kong. Cathay's a great airline and the stewardesses were taking no shit from the Koreans. Those HK Chinese girls... man, they're tough. I think that Korean Ajosshis and Ajummas feel they can get away with acting like the complete bastards they are on Korean owned airlines.

Still didn't stop one fcuker from coughing all over me so now I've got the flu. Evil or Very Mad

Oh.. and what's with Incheon being voted 3rd best airport?

1) How long does it take to get there? TOO BLOODY LONG!

2) Why is it staffed by over officious a-holes?

3) It took a full hour to get from the plane to my bags.

Sorry, as 'great' airports go, it's pretty bloody crap. Go to Honkers and check out Chek Lap Kok (and it has a great name too!)

Not sure but,

I'd say flying to Korea guarantees almost all Korean passengers.

The flight attendants had to ask several times for them to turn off thir cell phones. The man sitting next to me did not realize I was in the next seat. His space seemed to include mine. I would be wating the TV and his friends would come over for a chat and stand in front of me, I would then stretch my head in an awkward way to see the film and then this guy placed his head between my back and the chair so I could not lean back. These little irritants seemed to last the whole flight. I finally built s barricade betweeb myself and the man with a pillow and my tray so that his body had less opportunity to touch mine. I do not think it is just the Koreans, I lived in HK 15 years and they would probably be the same way. If they did not know each other then it would be a little different. After the flight the 2 Korean men were behind me speaking a bunch of cuss words, so I must have ittitated them as well.

Heh, heh. Good for the Cathay f/a's. How did they handle the Koreans? Firmly and politely, or rudely? Korean Air f/a's seem to have a perma- smile. I don't know how they do it.

On the flip side, have you guys ever had a really fun flight because of cool passengers? Dominicans are fun- they bring hard liquor on board and start passing it around as soon as they are seated. The flight is just one big party. I had a flight from Bangkok- Chiang Mai once, and there were a lot of Dutch onboard. They seemed really relaxed and easy going.

once on a flight from JFK to CDG (Paris)- a group of english women were on some kind of hen night or general middle-aged-girls-gone-wild trip. They were laughing and chatting loudly the whole way.

Eventually a french guy next to them came out with the best put down I've ever heard

"Thees ees not a tupperware party!"

Flights into St. Johns are pretty much guaranteed madness. Buch of homesick Newfies talking about how they're gonna get roaring drunk as soon as the plane touches ground, and quite a few get started before that.

Brilliant!

Do the french have Tupperware parties??

In my personal experience I've never seen much bad-behaviour by Koreans on flights. A bit too long to settle into their seats is all.

The worst behaviour I've seen on airplanes has been visa-run parties on the way back from Osaka. But then, I was in the middle of them!!! Laughing

Yes-- I could always tell when my flight was headed for St. John's. In Halifax airport, people would walk casually chatting on to the airplane instead of shoving on like they're going to get a better seat. Just a friendlier vibe.

I'll always remember the woman in the seat next to me who was weeping all the way from Montreal to Halifax. She hadn't been home to Cape Breton in ten years.
