Has anybody worked on or visited Geoji Island?
It seems awfully remote from Seoul - is it worth a visit? |

I've never heard of a Geoji island.
Is it off of the west coast?
I live on Geoje island (old spelling: "Koje"), near Busan. And at least four other guys at Dave's have lived here before.
I welcome anyone to visit. Hint though. My ability to be a host is directly porportional with the amount of notice given. I just got two hours notice of one guy's visit, but I'm extremely busy today, starting in ten minutes! Last week I got a day's notice of another guy's visit, and at least was able to treat him to dinner and drinks. Give me two weeks' notice, ideally, seven days though is prefectly fine. Less, and it'll depend. I do tend to plan the following weekend on Mondays or Tuesdays. let me know.
So, wangja,... clarify for us where this Geoji island is. |

Yes, I guess that's what I mean. Sorry for the confusion.
Daewoo and SHI have yards there and I have been asked if I am interested in a contract there. |

Thanks a lot.
As it happens I am not a teacher and the job would be in SHI yard (contract management) on oil platforms and such like.
I have been in Seoul for nearly 7 years and am a bit worried that I might miss big-city life! But from the websites there do seem to be many compensations - and I can live with not much western food!
What about accommodation - are all apartments rented monthly, or is there the key-money system flourishing? |

yes definitely go there. its really nice. you must go to the beach Hakdong then go to the other beach about 30 mins from there. the island is beautiful. There is also Tongyong close by.
I would recommend a good few days though as it takes a while to get there. Yeosiu is great to but is another place entirely although also in the south |

Huh?
Four and a half hours by bus from Seoul's Nambu terminal (via the bridge at Tongyeong).
Or...
Fifty minutes by ferry from Busan.
No place in South Korea is that far from any other place.
It's all a mental thing, a misperception, as we forget how small this country really is.
It's less distance than from Toronto to Ottawa or from Los Angeles to San Francisco. |

What I actually meant was there is a lot to see. I just had a regular weekend and left early from seoul then went back as late as possible. Also I was quite tired from the travel. If possible I would atleast go on a weekend when you get the monday off to. Well thats what I would do anyway |
