The reviews are coming in, and they are mostly very favorable. What worries me is that some critics have mentioned that the film is perfect up until the end, which has a tacked-on "Hollywood style" denouement.
I thought Spielberg's 'Minority Report,' was a classic upon first viewing, but after multiple watchings have come to loathe the half-assed way it's wrapped up at the end. I hope this isn't similar.
Is it opening tomorrow in Korea?

Yes, but then I would say that the original ending of the novel was sort of a tacked-on "Hollywood style" denouement.
At any rate, it's a must see for me, so if you want to get a group together for the seventh let me know and I'll try and come with my gf. I'll still be here then. |

Uh-oh. Roger Ebert gave it 2 stars. Although, his review is pretty lame; his reason for not liking the film stemming from the fact that he didn't find the tripods or the motive behind the alien invasion "believable".

I thought Signs was good as well, I think it will be out in China all ready at the DVD stalls so have a look on the China board, I got LOTR Return of the King three weeks before it opened.
I think it will be a great movie, it takes a lot for a movie to be sh*tty, people are too hard to please, we should just go in watch it and enjoy it.
Can you recommend some good movie news sites Tiberus, you seem to know a lot about movies. |

The very early word out there is that this movie will be the first BOMB for Spielberg. This is why they don't want early reviews.
Movie officially cost 140million but estimates are that it was over budget by 60-70 million. The studio is worried. |
if it's a bomb, it'll be his second. ever seen '1941?'
anybody? |

I don't care about how much money the film grosses, only that it's a good flick. Remember 'Amistad'? What a terrible film. But I guess it made money, because nobody ever brings it up whenever a Spielberg discussion turns to his failures.
Speaking of grosses and sequels, I read recently that there may be a sequel in the works for 'Master and Commander,' which would be the bees knees -- except the first one didn't recoup its budget domestically, and, unfortunately, movies that don't do that don't get sequels.
For Freezer Burn, re movie news sites: I regularly visit www.chud.com and www.aintitcool.com, but I know www.darkhorizons.com is also good for tracking films in progress. All are good for news on the geekier side of moviemaking, though there's also a lot of whining and complaining. Which is sometimes a good thing. If the geeks didn't speak up, Brett Ratner would have directed a Superman movie starring Josh Hartnett where Lex Luthor is revealed to be a Kryptonian.
Instead, he's directing the next X-Men movie.

Another good movie sight is Box Office Mojo. It has news, reviews, theater counts, daily, weekly, weekend grosses, and more.

I've been around the Megabox and the CGV websites but due to my embarrassingly bad Korean I can't get to the page with forthcoming movies and dates.
So, then my Korean g/f tries and she can't find it either!!
Anyone know how to find out when movies open in Korea? |

Head to www.cgv.co.kr, find the search field on the right and change it to ȭ (movies). Type in 'War of the Worlds' and you'll have the option to select between the Spielberg version and the 1953 DVD (oddly, they both have different titles in Korean). Pick the Spielberg version and it'll take you to a page that lists the movie's details. It opens on the 7th.
There's also a page for Romero's Land of the Dead, but no opening date is listed. Since it didn't exactly set the US box office on fire, chances are it won't be in theaters anytime soon, if at all.
