We were having a ice cream/smoke-break at work. My co-workers were planning to go out and invited me, and then someone mentioned what we would be going to go eat dog.
I was like no, not even next time. |

What is the thing against eating dog???
Do you eat cow???
Do you eat sheep????
Do you eat pig???
Do you eat chicken???
Well if you do then what is the difference..
Don't give me that animal rights bullcrap....all of the above are treated worse than a lot of the dogs are...have you ever been to a place they keep chickens...what do you think KFC is, hormoned chicken.
You missed out
No offence but a lot of people try to show of by saying they don't eat dog...i just don't get it...... |

I declined to go out with some co workers and a supervisor once. They did the typical korean 'wait to the last minute then announce we are going to a restaurant for supper'...and of course you are supposed to drop everything....wrong....I said 'I'm sorry I can't make it I'm having supper with my boyfriend'.....  ...was of course the reaction, but the next time they actually planned the dinner and asked if anyone had plans. |

For anyone who has owned a dog they will know there is an emotional attachment. Dogs are friendly, loyal, and protective of their owners. They can become part of the family.
That is the difference.
When we slaughter cows/pigs/chickens/sheep they are generally wild animals. Dogs on the other hand are not.
If people want to eat dog then its their decision. It just something I would never do. |

Because I eat cow doesn't mean I've got a taste for silkworm or pigeon. Culturally, if Koreans want to eat dog, then more power to them. Yes, if you come from a culture that eats chicken and cows, you're not much further ahead in terms of morality. However, as individuals we can make judgments based on taste. A cow to me looks tasty. A mangy dog or snake or silkworm or pigeon doesn't look tasty. |

Last year at the end of the semester they had a going away dinner for all the teachers that would be leaving. Fortunately/unfortunately it was in Suwon...at a sushi restaurant...as I dont eat fish...and had no desire to travel an hour + by bus to sit in a restaurant with a bunch of drunk Koreans eating raw fish..I respectfully declined.
Caught flack for it for the rest of the year.  |

Do you think these animals are wild????
Have you ever been to a chicken farm...just as bad as the dog farms here in terms of treatment...
All the cows, pigs and sheep we eat do not live in the wild...they are brought up for consumption, I lived on a sheep farm and they were definantly not wild animals...
Maybe they were better treated but at the end of the day the purpose was the same...to cut them up and eat them...except for the wool, which we use to clothe us..
I've seen wild sheep, they are pretty useless for eating, abbitoirs won't take them, different qulaity of meat, plus the wool is useless, too coarse |

It seems that quite often when a new thread gets started, or an old one gets revived the same critics come on here wondering why someone did that. WHO CARES?! If you don't like it, go elsewhere. |
