The lottery formula is as follows - each team begins with three balls. For every playoff appearance in the last three years or No. 1 overall pick over the last four years, a team loses one ball. But each team will still be guaranteed to have one ball in the lottery. The first round will go with teams picking 1 through 30, with the 30th team picking 31st and the draft order 'snaking' back and forth in a seven round draft. |
Take a look at the chart here |

I can see it now. The Phoenix Coyotes have to move back to Winnipeg!
I'm really interested the entry draft on July 30th. Which team will get the #1 pick? This time around it is a "weighted lottery". |
Fingers crossed. |

While we're on the subject of hockey, hey VanIslander, are you gonna start a Yahoo pool like you said you would?
If you do, try to make it similar to the last one, except that cheap goalie dropping that allows someone to bench more players.
Anyway, if you start one up, I'm in. |
I won the league WITHOUT benching ANY players. So the guy who bent the rules didn't see the fruits of his efforts.
Yes, I will start a Yahoo pool as soon as Yahoo opens it up, probably in mid-August.
The Cube, of course is invited to return. As is sarcasmkills and the others from last time, plus whomever else teaches ESL in Korea or Japan (who was that wacky guy who came in second but uttered profanity and trash talk all the time?).
We had a 1000 messages posted I recall. Very active. Will be again. Though hopefully pretty civil trash talk! The guy who ran the league last time said he wouldn't do it again because some unnamed posters were taking it too seriously and meanly. I'll commish it this time, as should be the right of the defending champ. |

I love the Ten Spot on cnnsi
"The NHL on Wednesday finally reached a labor agreement in principle, which includes a hard salary cap, to end the 301-day lockout. Players will receive no more than 54 percent of the league's revenues but are allowed to earn extra money by cutting the owners' lawns." |
