|

Hi again to all in Korea.
I have travelled and lived abroad several times but I have never had so many issues getting a visa as I have recently for Korea.
First the sealed transcripts which I thought I may lose my job over and now the consulate in DC can't seem to find my passport which they're certain will "turn up" along with the issuance letter and fee I sent them via express mail.
Has anyone else gotten this far and then had issues getting their E-2 visa actually stamped in the passport and returned? I'd really like to get on with my life as it has been on hold for awhile.
What is the longest anyone has had to wait on something like this? Just curious... my school in Korea has been waiting on me for nearly a month.I'll be surprised if they don't give up on me soon! |

I should have learned by now that I need to be more patient.
My school is giving me another 2 weeks to get things taken care of and they told me not to worry. I guess I'm pretty fortuante.
Six weeks does sound like a long time though... was that just for getting the consulate to stamp the visa into your passport? In DC, they claim to issue it in 4 days. |

If they told you not to worry, I would take that advice. They are not likely to give up on you at this point in the process.
Word of advice: If they said 'two weeks' then be sure to have everything ready to go on that date. The visa will arrive and the school will expect you to hop the very next plane. Not one two or three days later. The very next plane. Things in Korea are done at the very last possible minute. |

It would appear that my passport went to the embassy rather than the consulate. How lovely. Oh well... at least it was the Korean Embassy. I'm guessing they are capable of forwarding it on to where it belongs.
I have noticed this "last minute" thing and it really bothered me at first. My school wanted a flight booked before I had received their issuance letter. At least they're not "dragging their heels".
How fast is this year in Korea going to go, I wonder? |
