Google it. Sounds pretty kult-ish 2 me.

In fact my gut instinct leads me to believe it's likely tied into the Moonies & has links to global pedophilia rings.

Just a guess mind you Cool

Why the interest ???

I did, and all I can find is their official website. It makes them look like a pretty legit Christian organization, but of course it would, wouldn't it?

They were hosting a concert in Gwangju Friday night that sounded pretty good, but I wanted to know who they were before I went and supported them by buying a ticket.

I didn't used to be so suspicious, but a little more than a year ago an acquaintence invited me to a 'concert' in Seoul that turned out to be a promo concert for a group I now know to be a cult. So... I wanted to do my homework before being roped into another such event.

Not that it matters now. My friends and I decided we had better things to do Friday night.

Krats, I don't like cats much, prefering dogs, but that cat in your avatar is too cute. Is that yours?

And in the spirit of Purple Willow's recent thread, what does your ID mean?

Nope. I snagged this from a link on a thread several months ago... have no idea which thread it was now though. It made me laugh so hard I had to steal it. Laughing

This is my Crazy Toni:

Let's just say it's name and birthdate related. Cool Not terribly clever, but there you go.

I'm sorry Krats, but the look in your cat's eyes does nothing but reaffirm my dislike for them. I get the feeling Toni'd kill me in a darkened room.

I think they are a reasonably legitimate church. I also think they are the kind of church which irritate me. I think they are the kind of church where the members say "It'll be different to what you expect" before you go to one of their services.. then immediately you expect exactly what you get: ie a happy clappy screamy rock/rap/dance christian type spectacle with light shows and funny preachers/pastors.

I think I know this particular church, because one of my co-workers tried to get me to go to one of their retreats (the july one, which is presumably going on now). My co-worker went on the retreat when he was about 18 or 20 or something and he claimed it changed his life. By "changing his life" I think it means he became a christian. I believe he also must have lapsed for a while (when in the army I guess). When I met him (when he was 28 ) he smoke and drank. After a couple of months he told me he was unhappy with his life life, and thinking of becoming a christian. Then a couple of months later he 'became' a christian.

He then quit smoking and drinking and started telling me about this retreat he'd gone on 8 years before. He never tried to make me go to his church services though, prolly coz he knew I wouldn't understand them. Anyway the church he goes to is one of the 6-7 days a week type deals. For this guy the church was good for him, he went from miserable to happy. He went from single to marrying a hot girl. He went from a smoker to a non-smoker. He went from patient to.. super super super patient.

I think they are probably as cultish as your average happy-clappy modern style church. The kinds you see all over the US and Australia, and even Britain now. And if you join they'll hook you up with a hot-wife.

I wouldn't be too worried about supporting this church. In fact I've supported them with my 'valuable' time by correcting their (young) members entries for an english competition to help my co-worker out. I'm an agnostic/borderline-atheist but they don't bother me too much. At least they make their followers follow their beliefs unlike some lame-ass churches out there. (I like fundementalists better than your typical C of E "ooh, interpret it how you like.. you don't like that bit? no? well, we'll ignore it, jesus won't mind, he loves you anyway dear" type folk. If you're gonna follow some poncey religion at least follow your "bible" or whatever religious text you believe to be the truth.)
