Having just received my internet service yesterday from KT something has bugging me.
Every few minutes or so i seem to disconnected from the internet. If i refresh a page or click on a link or open a new weppage very very often the Cannot Find Server Page comes up. Its really annoying. This is my second time writing this topic for example.
As a computer novice i dont know why this is happening..
The Local Area Connection figure at the bottom of the screen reads very erratic numbers like 220 78 112 200 30....
I'm thinking this is the problem. There seems to be a poor connection to my officetel.
Should i get the internet company to come again and secure a better connection or what??
Any advice or assistance would be great.
Thank you for your time.. |

What service is it? ADSL?
You may need a new modem...? Call KT and tell them. |

Same company, same problem.
Having two computers in the apartment, I had my connection on all the time through a router. Four months later something decides to stop working. Since I'm only using the one PC lately I just hooked up regularly through the KT modem, which went fine up until the past few days.
I'll be listening or watching something over the net and it just stops. I'll be battling for the lead in a tense final lap of Kart Rider when the other karts dissappear and I find myself alone on the track.
If I wait a few more minutes, I'm able to reconnect, but it's faster to restart the computer, I find.
I've not made any changes to my hardware nor software, so I figure it must be a fault with KT...
It's something that's happened to me a couple of times in my two-and-a-half years with KT. The woman on their English-speaking helpline said she'd send a technician. I told her if he was just going to be as useless as the ones they've sent in the past then she shouldn't bother. I expect a technician to come and fix a problem.
Anyway, the guy comes today and spends about ten minutes before leaving and assuring me all's ok. I couldn't explain the problem to him, but I could make it clear in Korean that one more time and I'd be switching to Hanaro. Twenty minutes later and I'm on the phone to the guy calling him back.
The second visit, he spent close to an hour. Changed some modem cable, did some online checks of some sort, left some KT software installed on my machine and then sat for a while. I think he was waiting for the random disconnection. Of course these things don't happen while the technician's over, so off he goes. He was kind enough to call me a few minutes later still just to check all was well. And it was.
Until he was well and truly on his way home.
I'm calling Hanaro first thing in the morning. I'm meant to be on a 12-month deal with KT, but I've been with them two years and a half at three addresses each end of the country on three different plans and I've never put my signature on, nor even seen, any document that commits me to anything.
I'm glad I saw your post declan as I was actually coming on here to ask if anyone has the same experience.
Do they?
(crossing my fingers now hoping my connection is still up so I can actually submit this...) |

Yes. I'm with KT and get a random disconnect. Sometimes every twenty minutes, sometimes every hour, sometimes never. Annoying. But I'm out of this town pretty soon so am just dealing with the restart.
I never entirely understand this. Koreans always brag about how wired their country is, but in many ways it seems like they've neglected the basics in their effort to get the country connected at fastest maximum speeds. Trying to run before they can walk kind of thing. |
