Think twice about Daegu if you are the least bit meek. Korean men (and even some of the western men who have been here awhile) are very aggressive and getting harassed as you walk down the street is fairly common.
I would know. Since I've been here, I've been attacked twice and have had numerous run-ins with "the locals". "Why didn't she leave?" you may ask...because I'm stubborn and slightly crazy (I beat the crap out of my first attacker and he called the cops on ME!!!!) Shocked

At any rate, if you are a young women considering Korea, please be advised that western women are 2nd class citizens in Daegu.

Yeah, go to Seoul or Daejeon where women are 1st class citizens.

Whatever you do, avoid Busan and Incheon where women are 3rd class citizens.

And don't get me started on Ulsan or Gwangju......

EDIT: Rolling Eyes

I doubt that Daegu is any worse/better than most of the other cities.

He must've been attracted to you.. you're supposed to admire his persistence.
Korean women think its cute. You're not a real man unless you pursue your prey endlessly. First phone calls 20 times a day, and it goes from there. I heard of one woman who actually married her kidnapper/rapist: in her mind, he'd really proved his love and commitment.

Its insane over here.

If you are in an agressive situation the best thing to do is defuse it is to get the hell out of there. Go into a business and don't leave until you are sure they are gone. Call a friend and have them come down with youl.

Remember that in Korea the the 'winner' of a fight usually has to pay the loser money so it's just one more reason to walk away.

I try not to see every Korean man as a problem, as I don't think that's a good way to live here.

It's nice to know we can count on an anonymous poster to tell us that the whole of Daegu's male population considers women 2nd class, based on her experiences.

Because that's why I come here: for the undeniable truth.
