Its got a ridiculous name but I was wondering what this place is actually like, I have read the other posts but they seem rather general about the franchise...

Any input would be great

I'm at a Wonderland right now and I hate it. It has all the cons. Split shifts, kindergarten (ok if not for the split shift), phone teaching, tests and evaluations, and pays the going rate. I would try to find somewhere else if I were you.

I'm at Wonderland right now and I love it. It's got all the pros....kindy which is fun and easy to teach, "split" shifts which means I get an hour and a half off each afternoon to run errands or go to the beach, better than average pay, great co-workers, and a great job atmosphere.

Talk to the current teachers to see what they have to say. That's the best way to find out about a school.

I've only read good things about Wonderland on the Net, so I say give it a try - and you can quote me on that.

Anyone got experience of the Guri one specifically?

Cheers for the comments, although I'm more confused than ever now!

Even the recruiter coughed slightly when the name left his lips....

If anyone has any specific info feel free to PM me..

If you have a few spare moments.. do a search on these boards for Wonderland.

Bare in mind that any franchise can change from one location to another.

Tome,

No offence, but this must be the third time you have posted about a potential job.

Have you actually taken or a seriously considering any of the roles you have posted about?

Well my split shift involves me showing up to work everyday at 9:30 and leaving at 8. I teach one kindie class for 1.5 hours spread over 4 hours. Then I work from 3:30 to 8 straight through. You can't do anything in 1.5 hours unless you live somewhere central. I'd say I have the worst schedule in my school though. If only there were a beach nearby. My pay is 1.9M which is average, for a newbie anyway. It really does depend on the school. I don't think kprrok's experience are typical.

Just for your reference, I looked at all the bad stuff about Wonderland before I signed just thinking it would be different for me. I wished I'd kept looking. I thought of it as a crap shoot either way. Also, beware that the current teacher probably has the boss standing 3 feet away while on the phone. Ask for an email address or something so you can get more honest answers. Good luck.

I feel like Marley's Ghost. 'Don't make the same mistakes I did.'

Once upon a time many, many moons ago, i went for an interview at Guri wonderland. Yes! the very one.

The woman boss had the unmistakeable air of a b i t c h, and the contract included some nasty clauses such as deducting 10% of each months paycheque for deposit or something..refundable 6 months after you've left the country. Can't be sure (long time ago) but i think there were cameras set up in the classrooms too.

They asked "do you like kids?".. as i watched their crazy brats running riot... ahem.. they offered me of course, but No fanks.

however you can't judge any hogwon on how it was 2 years ago (let alone 6 months ago). they change/turnover fast.
