And that's in the shade! 2 in the morning it's 100 degrees!
A radio station from Chicago called a Baskin Robbins in Phoenix and had them put a scoop of ice cream out on the sidewalk and see how long it took to melt...8 seconds!
The heat in seoul does not seem so bad compared... |

That's hot....California is also soaring to 101F (39C) Compared to these two states, this Korean summer is nothing. |

I've experienced 50 Celsius (120 F). Afghani summer temps. Not nice. You draw your curtains at 9am & have a smoke & drink hot tea & drift in & out of sleep until 6 or 7 in the evening when a bit of cooling breeze starts to stir again.
Nevertheless, it felt hot today! |

Just read on Yahoo news.....12 people have already died in AZ due to heat (mostly homeless people and a couple of elderly women). |

I experienced that in Northern California- Redding. Weeks of 116-120 F. The thing is, it does get cool there in the evening and night because it is desert. |

Ah but it's a dry heat.
Sorry, someone had to make that cliched joke/observation.

Throw in nearly 100% humidity and you've got Kuwait and some parts of Saudi Arabia in summer. You know it's pretty bad when the locals go to Damascus and Cairo to get out of the heat. |

Yeah, it's hot here. We are supposed to get some rainstorms in PHX by the end of the week though, fallout from Hurricane Elaine.
It's too hot to type. bye |

I just left Las Vegas about 4 days ago.. it was 115 degrees outside. Our airplane was re-routed to pick up fuel in San Francisco on the way to Honolulu. They said it was too hot to fuel the plane in Las Vegas.. too dangerous to do so.. so diverted to SF to do it instead.
All of that being said.. and I'm back in Seoul (its hot and sticky) and much cooler temperature-wise.. yet I still prefer the 115-degree dry heat of Las Vegas over this. |

I stand corrected. I should have said Dubai. Last week, it was in the mid-40s and around 70% humidity. Comfort level was "six" according to metorologists, while it occasionally gets up to eight a few times during the summer each year.

Apparently Portugal is experiencing its worst drought in 100 years now..
Global warming is already putting us in some serious trouble. (sorry, but I had to mention that again). |

I was there 1978-1979 and again 1984-1986. First time I lived in Bnied el-Gar, second time down in Fahahaal, right opposite the English School on the coast. How about you?
