Just wondering who else shares my opinion that Harry Potter is not innocent reading for children. Magic and Scorcery was started using demons and most who still practice it call upon demons. These are just simple facts. What is innocent about that??? And yes, I know its just imagination, but someday these kids will grow up... |

well i am now a demented psychopath now that im all grown up having read about about witches throwing small children into fires (hansel and gretal), throwing animals into boiling pots of soup (three little pigs) and thinking its acceptable to chop peoples heads off if they disobey me (alice in wonderland!
i think the world needs to watch out in the future, there are going to be a whole lot more people like me in the world, thinking i can make dragons come shooting outa my a$$ by yelling " dragonoutsarsemus!!" and waving my little twig around!
geez dude, do you really think this? or is it just been stated to get some reactions |

No, Harry isn't bad. It's DUDLEY who is bad. I HATE Dudley. That Draco Malfoy needs to go down, too. |

ok, I can see your points. I have a great idea for a book. I will write about a nice little girl who becomes friends with an older men because she was lonely. And then he rapes her and kills her. I will market it toward young children. Because hey, the three pigs boiled kids and thats ok. This was a post to get a reaction out of people, all posts are. I am sure there are people that agree with me and people that don't. Lets discuss it.
P.S. I was not serious about writing that book... |

The 3 pigs boiled kids? I thought there was a wolf in that story. Ever read Korean folktales? How about that girl that turned into a fox at night and then went out and eviscerated people? Now THAT was a cool story (don't remeber the moral of the story, though). |

Yeah when will you? I must agree Harry Potter is evil and prevents children from reading a good book about ethnic cleansing, subjegation of women, homophobia and people turning rods into snakes.................
Shame it all gets a bit weedy after the interval when that carpenters son shows up.
CAN I GET AN AAAAAAAAAY-MEN.............. |

well I would guess you are referring to the Bible. But I am not sure what carpenters son you are talking about. Please explain about that and also the ethnic cleansing and subjection of women... |

Are you for real guy or are you just trying to stimulate a debate?
Anyway, I considered the question and found this tickler from a load of people who seem to think Harry Potter is in fact, Lucifer himself reaching us through our children:

But didn't Harry Potter rescue Dobby from eternal servitude? That's quite christian behaviour, I rather thought.
My own view is that witchcraft is a christian concept, which was invented to persecute those who followed older, pre-christian ways.

OK. I must apologize. I wrote this from a point as a christian being scared that these kids will grow up and not know to pray against witchcraft because it is satanic. But not all kids grow up to be christians. I guess it is the opinion of most people that there is nothing wrong with Harry Potter, I can accept that. |

I think it takes more than a few children's stories to turn people into anything. This was my favourite book when I was a kid. I was no suck-a-thumb, I can tell you. Struwwelpeter, was not for wussy kids.
http://www.fln.vcu.edu/struwwel/daumen_e.html
One day, Mamma said, "Conrad dear,
I must go out and leave you here.
But mind now, Conrad, what I say,
Don't suck your thumb while I'm away.
The great tall tailor always comes
To little boys that suck their thumbs.
And ere they dream what he's about
He takes his great sharp scissors
And cuts their thumbs clean off, - and then
You know, they never grow again."
Mamma had scarcely turn'd her back,
The thumb was in, alack! alack!
The door flew open, in he ran,
The great, long, red-legged scissorman.
Oh! children, see! the tailor's come
And caught our little Suck-a-Thumb.
Snip! Snap! Snip! the scissors go;
And Conrad cries out - Oh! Oh! Oh!
Snip! Snap! Snip! They go so fast;
That both his thumbs are off at last.
Mamma comes home; there Conrad stands,
And looks quite sad, and shows his hands;-
"Ah!" said Mamma "I knew he'd come
To naughty little Suck-a-Thumb."
If you ask me boys and girls, Conrad got what he deserved.
As did fatty boy Augustus:

However, I thought flying Robert was a little unfortunate.

Don't apologize! Did JC ever apologize for anything? Most of us here pray against witchcraft on a daily basis, I can assure you of that. |

forgive me for my less-than-watertight grasp of history... but isn't witchcraft actually earth-worship? and didn't the church suppress it as 'satanic' simply because they wanted people to give up the indigenous religions they'd been practicing for millenia and start praying to some dude who may or may not even be there and submit to a foreign power?
but hey, if it's satanic, please enlighten with a few sources. 'to hell with the devil' is my favorite stryper album. |
