I didn't start marathon training this month, as I'm teaching an early-morning intensive class until August, and I don't even have enough time to get proper sleep. Thus, I've postponed my marathon goal a bit.

Now, I want to try running a marathon somewhere in sunny Southeast Asia around Christmas or the New Year, though I don't know when exactly my vacation will be. Do you know of any good or popular ones?

Mark December 11th on your calendar.

The Honolulu Marathon is the big one!

I used to dream of doing it. Actually, having run a couple of marathons, I wanted to do the Ironman there. Until I lost my gall bladder while running a routine training 10k late one night. I haven't run since. That was, wow, nearly seven years ago! I loved marathons, need a good year to ease myself back into it.

Also on the 11th, if you really wanna stay in the southeast, is the 1st ever Brunei Marathon. Be part of history as monkey and maneaters cross your paths over long stretches of jungled roads on the island of Borneo.

The week before, on the 4th, there's a marathon in Singapore.

I find the Edge to Edge marathon in Ucluelet on Vancouver Island next June to be interesting. More dangerous than Borneo perhaps, in major cougar country with a history of maulings.

Thanks! I think I wanna find one with some good interesting scenery to look at. Temples or something. And I don't wanna spend so much money, so Hawaii is probably not the thing. Indonesia might not be bad. I do like monkeys.

I'm finding training in this weather really horrible. Went out at midnight last night, but still ended a really short run drenched. Ugh.
