Nice try, but I think it was the content, the notion that The Dubya is sending the entire country down the drain into excrementland - yeah, more I think of it, that's what I think it is.
As for art, I won't call it that, more like a political cartoon, and it would fit very nicely one This Thread ...
Still trying to figure out why the Republican lady would say she "can't understand" why she has to be tolerant of opinions that don't coincide with hers. That one's got me flummoxed, honestly.
I think I heard someone say here that they think a courthouse is nonpolitical, and I giggled a little, I admit ... and yet the Xtians conservatives complain about religious images not being allowed? What is very clear is that such folk want these places to be an acceptable place only for the display of THEIR ideas and no one elses.
Again, I don't understand that - if the people who defend showing the Ten Commandments want to do so, then they ought to defending this guy's right to say anything he wants, but instead they" can't understand" the need for toleration of other views ...
And I can't understand their lack of understanding of that need. |

I could be wrong, but I did not hear of anyone claiming to be both for the display of religious images and against the display of Toilet Country. Granted, the woman quoted is from the same party attributed to both "opinions", but I think it is jumping the gun a bit, at least at this point, to give her the other opinion without hearing it first.
Also, I would guess that religious conservatives might find this a rallying point in much the same way that Bobster has argued, only from the other side of the fence..."If a polarizing piece of work comparing the country to excrement is allowed in a courthouse, why not the "polarizing" Ten Commandments?"
Personally, I'm for allowing them both to be displayed, but would prefer to see neither. |
