Hi,
I'm a Canadian living in New Zealand and i'm thinking of working in Korea. Is it true that Canadians have to submit a police clearance certificate?
I ask this as I might not be able to get it in New zealand and might have to return to Canada to get mine?
Or is it possible to get it abroad?
Any advice.

First I've heard of that. I didn't need one, nor did any of my compatriot friends here. |

I'm Canadian and never needed one, or had to need one come to that.
I wouldn't worry about a police clearance. I doubt the Koreans would be able to get enough English teachers if they did require one. |

I'm a Canadian still in Canada working on setting myself up with a gig and no one, including any of the employers with which I have been in contact and the Korean Consulate in Toronto, has mentioned anything about a police clearance certificate. |

I'm a canadian sounding kiwi (the accent is a somewhat recent development). Anyway I didn't need a police check. If you haven't got your passport yet there is some extra paperwork required post 9/11 but apart from that you should be fine.

RCMP Form 1868, Canadian Police Certificate for Visa Applicants/Foreign Travel/Foreign Work Permits; I've needed one for working abroad before, but not for Korea.
All they do is a search of the national repository for criminal records in Canada to see if your name pops up for any records of criminal convictions. |

I had to get one when I went to work at a university. No other place has asked for one so I guess it depends on your employer. |
