Nice avatar. I hope you're wearing your 'Islam - religion of peace' bracelet.

And back at it.

Bigot?

"The real Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance and understanding.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/1570106.stm

That's just one example. There are plenty others. Blair and Bush, plus every liberal under the sun have uttered this nonsense many, many times. Don't try and pretend you haven't heard it.

"Islam is Peace" Says President

I think the religion doth protest too much, don't you?

Nice.

You have a quote from Sept. 2001.

You have Bush and Blair saying the REAL Islam is a religion of peace.

Where do you, supposedly, have all these "liberals" citing Islam as a "religion of peace"?

And let's go over all of that. Where is your "35% of Muslims in England" supporting the overthrow of the West?

What overwhelming majority of the 2 BILLION Muslims in the world support Jihad?

Calm down there sonny.

I provided a link showing that 32% (I was out by 3%) of British muslims wanted to see the overthrow of the West on the other thread, but that thread was deleted, for no apparent reason. Islam's a touchy subject you see.

Here it is again. Pay attention this time.

And how is this any different from saying 'Islam is a religion of peace'? It's not, so stop your pedantry.

I think you implied it when you said that it's one of the central tenets of the religion.
I think that was you, anyway. Deleted threads and whatnot.

Oh, pedantry, is it?

A "religion of peace"?

You cite Blair and Bush circa 2001. Not to be pedantic, but do you feel that people like you squawking about a religion of peace are taking Bush and Blair to task? Or is it the "left" you're attacking? Why on earth would you cite Bush as an example of an error by "the left"?

Now, Chicken Little, let's look at your own article:

Quote:
Among those who hold this view, almost all go on to say that Muslims should only seek to bring about change by non-violent means but one per cent, about 16,000 individuals, declare themselves willing, possibly even eager, to embrace violence.

Did you miss that bit or choose to ignore it?

There were numerous statistics in that article, but you chose ONE to suit your purposes.

My statement stands:

The vast majority of Muslims simply want to live their lives and practice their religion.

Now, go ahead and quote the Koran to discount this.

AGAIN.

For the record.

Whether they say they want to change Western society by non-violent means or not, a third of them want to see it dispensed with, which is one third too many for my liking. We should be encouraging immigration from cultures that will embrace the West, not from cultures where a large section of the population openely despise it. They don't like Western society, they can always go back to Pakistan or Bangladesh.

I have no interest in left-right distinctions as far as this debate is concerned. I simply have a problem with those who spout this nonsense, whoever they may be.

Here's some more:

However, six per cent insist that the bombings were, on the contrary, fully justified.

Six per cent may seem a small proportion but in absolute numbers it amounts to about 100,000 individuals who, if not prepared to carry out terrorist acts, are ready to support those who do.

Reassuring indeed. 100,000! Ken Livingstone was on the Radio yesterday claiming that there were tens, or maybe hundreds of such extremists. Not hundreds Ken, 100,000!

Moreover, the proportion of YouGov's respondents who, while not condoning the London attacks, have some sympathy with the feelings and motives of those who carried them out is considerably larger - 24 per cent.

That's great. A quarter of British muslims sympathise with the feelings and motives of mass murderers who plan to kill their fellow countrymen.

YouGov also asked whether or not its Muslim respondents agreed or disagreed with Tony Blair's description of the ideas and ideology of the London bombers as "perverted and poisonous".

Again, while a large majority, 58 per cent, agree with him, a substantial minority, 26 per cent, are reluctant to be so dismissive.

Again, a quarter of British muslims don't have a problem with an ideology that justifies the killing of innocent civilians.

almost three quarters of British Mulsims, 73 per cent, say they would inform the police if they believed that someone they knew or knew of might be planning a terrorist attack.

Great, that leaves over a quarter who woudln't tell the police about people planning mass murder of their fellow citizens.

It's hardly reassuring stuff now is it?
