I've been roped into a summer camp for three days at my elementary school. Thankfully it's only a 9-5 deal. And the pre planned but ignorable syllabus blows. I figure if the little turds are stuck coming in for 3 days of their vacation I should at least make it as moderately fun as I can. So what I'm after is as many 20 minute games as I can possibly find. They don't necessarally have to be all that educational even. And preferably without an hour's prep being required for each game. Any ideas....? Tks.

Prey and predator.

I turn my kids loose in the school and make one of them the hunter. He has a ball(soft cloth one) and has to hunt down the other kids. Once a kid has been shot they become a hunter and help hunt down their classmates.

English level min fun level max

water balloon relay race. Students must throw a balloon from one to each other and the winning team gets to throw their balloon at the losing team.

Follow the instructions.

Example: go out of the class, turn right, go straight to the corner, turn left go straight, look under the case on the left hand side. Next clue.

* 'Guessing Game' - One person has a flash card written up by you, with one of a bunch of exclamations on it eg. "Wow!" "Gosh darn it!" (or similar...) ... Students have to guess the word without being shown.
Got this on advice from a Korean co-teacher who reckoned it worked best of any game she'd tried.

* 'Don't Say "Yes"!' - students work in pairs, taking turns, where they have to answer questions from the other and have to try to trick the other into saying "Yes".

* "Zip Zap Zah" - I did this one this morning with a low level middle-school class from hell. Well, they sure don't like to talk, anyway. They enjoyed this heaps, and got the hang of it despite the esoteric rules system which you could contrive to use as a learning objective if you really needed one:
Whomsoever starts chooses a direction, indicated by an open hand direction across the body in the direction of their choosing, and by saying either "Zip" to the left, or "Zap" for the right.
If the next student wants to change direction back the other way again, they have to indicate so by the open hand motion above their head and from the other side of the body, and by saying "Zah".
To up the pressure, call for more speed, and watch for any inaccuracy or discrepancy in hand/verbal indications, or hesitation in response. Any delay or mistake and the students sits out. The last two in are the winners.

* 'Trains' - good for a hoot, and getting girls and boys to hold hands...
One waits outside while you establish who among those in the circle in the room are such as the train station, the railway crossing, the cow, the pig, and perhaps the mouse or possum, making appropriate noises such as "All aboard!" "Ning-ning-ning!" "Mooo" "Oink-oink" "Squeak-squeak (splat!)" (-getting run over by the train-) respectively. The others get to make the noises next game. Those who make the noises do so when their hand gets squeezed by the person before them, and just before they squeeze the hand of the person after them. The person in the middle has to point at the person where they think the 'train' (hand squeeze) is, and say "Stop!" at the same time. If the one in the middle is correct, that person goes outside in prep for the next game.
Stations can change the direction of the train.
It's an oldy, but it's a goody.
