So to answer the decade or two decade old age question.
Like it or hate it, its a part of pop culture and it is very entertaining.
Which show do you like the most?

Family guy:
Meg Griffin: You could kill all the girls who are prettier than me.
Death: Well that would just leave England.

Chris, everything I say is a lie. Except that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that.

Oh, jeez, I spilled wine all over your shirt! You know what's good for getting stains out? Sex with another man.

Gays don't vomit. They're a very clean people. And they've been that way ever since they came over to this country from France.

THE SIMPSONs:
(Homer)
Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is: never try.

Donuts. Is there anything they can't do?

My campaign is a disaster, Moe. I hate the public so much. If only they'd elect me, I'd make them pay.

Kids are great, Apu. You teach them to hate the same things you hate and they practically raise themselves.

Ralph: Me fail English, that's unpossible

i used to be diehard simpsons but dammit family guy is just s'damn fresh. Simpsons is still funny don't get me wrong, but family guy is just different.

I've heard the two shows do a lot of good natured ribbing of each other the past season.

favourite line of all time:
meg: What's going on?
Peter: I'm selling all my things so that you can have something when you're dead. <looks over at bike>. My old bike.... boy, i got a lot of memories playing with this bike
<flashback to Young Peter sitting at a picnic teaset, sitting across from the bike>
"More tea, Mr. Bike"?

Now granted i was a bit blitzed, I lauged for the rest of the show, literally. It was the peter has breast cancer episode.

others:
Peter: Let's drink till we can't feel our feelings!

Maybe one of the hardest questions of all time. I really don't know what I'd say. I want to say Simpsons but then 2 seconds later I want to say Family Guy. I'll use my go to answer from university multiple choice exams: "c) all of the above". And to keep the trend going I'll add my favourites from each show.

Simpsons: Homer at the batting cages.
First pitch comes in Homer takes a big swing at it and misses.
Homer: "Ball one." (at this point I was rolling on the floor laughing)
Second pitch comes in again big swing and a miss.
Homer: "Ball two. Geez, this bozo's gonna walk me." (enough said)

Family Guy: Chris getting the "masturbation talk" from his grandpa. His grandpa thinks Chris is holding up the bathroom in the morning because he's, umm, taking care of business.
Grandpa: The good lord sees what you are doing in there and he'll punish you for it.
Chris: (to himself): God doesn't want me to p00?
He goes about 4 days without taking a dump because he's terrified about God watching him. Hilarious.

I saw the movie of family guy yesterday. Well it was more like 3 episodes stuck together but it's an actual film as far as I know.

To answer the orginal question I would say Family Guy.

In one episode Peter has been told that he is "mentally retarded" as he puts it and goes to Joe the next-door neighbor (who can't walk) and asks him "how did he deal with it". He says "I'm not retarted I'm handicaped" to which Peter replies "now your just splitting hairs". Brillant. Then he rings up his ex-girlfriend to warn her that she might catch it!!

Also Quagmire is such a prevert!!

The show is more adult but it's a close call!

Yes, I know. I'm just trying to liven up this board with a smidgen
of devil's advocacy. We are all in the lame boat. However, comparing
the Simpson's to The Family Guy? Come on, we all know the best
place for entertainment is Arirang TV!

(Anyways, South Park RULES!)

For cutting comments on society, yes.

For quality animation and visual gags, The Simpsons still rules.

Family Guy doesn't come first in either category.

And Duckman was first in both and blew all other animated tv shows out of the water.

duckman...damn, i hated that show. All of my friends couldn't stop watching it; it was their present day trailer park boys.

more simpsons quotes:
sacrilicious.
"I put the "you" in "impr-you-vement"
abe and his squared bearded chum sitting on the bench drinking "weed juice".
"we're old...heh heh ...heh heh".

the crazy pepper of quizatenanga episode where homer trips out.
after eating the chief's chilli,
"nice try chief. Don't quite your day job...whatever that is".

the hank scorpio episode was fantastic.

and south park? heh...i dunno, take it or leave it. It has it's moments i suppose.... i laughed hysterically the first time i saw terrence and phillip; but i didn't think much at ALL of mr. hanky.

I voted for the Simpsons because they've had more funny episodes, but the last Family Guy had one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen...it was a take-off from the Aha video, "Take on Me".

They're shopping in the supermarket and Chris gets yanked....ah, why explain it when you can just watch it? Very Happy

The first time I watched it, I laughed and laughed for some reason.

Who doesn't love the Simpsons. I find family guy crosses the line too often. Its malicious and doesn't make me laugh as often. Also the characters are so inconsistent its hard to relate to them and therefor to be able to laugh at myself through them. I voted Simpsons.
