My God, are there ANY good public school positions? I want to return here in a year (after decompressing in SE Asia) and teach at a public High School, but I keep hearing these stories of public schools actually being glorified hagwons with only 2 weeks of vacation. Screw that. I have a California teaching credential (English) and 5 years of teaching experience. Is there any hope of me finding a good High School teaching job in about a year???

Try canadian connection. They place people in public school jobs in Jeollanam do. Pretty much everyone on their program got at least 4 weeks in the winter, others got 6+ weeks. They only guarantee 2 weeks in the contract though I think. A lot of those jobs are in smaller cities though.
