I'm new to Korea and teaching so bear with me if this is covered elsewhere...

Does anyone know how easy it is for non-native, but fluent (with a European MA), people to find a teaching job here? My GF is Spanish and we're considering her coming over and wanted to know job options.

A follow up is if there are teaching positions for native Spanish speakers.

And, finally, does anyone know of non-oriental language courses (french, russian, spanish, etc) that a teacher can take while teaching here? It'd be nice to use this time to pick up those languages I always wanted. Preferably in or near Gumi where I find myself to be!

You might contact the embassies of Spanish-speaking countries and ask their cultural desk about jobs for Spanish classes. Chile and SK signed a free trade agreement recently, so their embassy might know of jobs. Also think about proof reading for companies who trade with Mexico, Chile, etc.

In Daegu there is a branch of the Spanish Government langauge school, Instituto Cervantes. When I studied there they had to native speakers. Here's their address:

You can also try contacting some of the international schools. I met an Italian chick teaching at one in Seoul.
