Review: 'Dukes of Hazzard' is roadkill
Cheesecake, car chases and idiocy
By Paul Clinton

Burt Reynolds, as Boss Hogg, crows over the incarceration of Bo and Luke Duke ( Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville ).

(CNN) -- "The Dukes of Hazzard" is a prime example of a sad Hollywood habit: taking a popular -- but rather dumb -- TV show and turning it into a totally stupid and meaningless film.

This flick is a car wreck with boobs.

Now, let me just say, if your idea of a good film is a nearly naked Jessica Simpson Rolling Eyes and completely over-the-top chase scenes, then this movie is for you.

If, however, you're not a teenage boy with raging hormones -- and you like films with an actual plot (instead of walking and talking clichés) -- this movie may put you into a coma. Laughing

The storyline is so dumb and predictable it wouldn't have even made the grade for an episode of the original TV series.

I will never understand the logic of investing millions to make a movie out of a so-so TV series 30 or 40 years after the show went out of production. Maverick; Wild, Wild West; I Dream of Jeannie; Dennis the Menace...

I was in Toronto last weekend and saw people lined up for 2 blocks for eight hours or more in sweltering heat to get autographs from Jessica Simpson and the 2 guys and then to be part of a tv show audience they were hosting. WTF?

You're criticizing a movie you haven't seen? Ah yes, those movie critics. They're always bang-on.

That's one bet you would have won

1: N The Dukes of Hazzard WB $30,575,000* - 3,785** - $8,077*** $50****

*- Gross

**- Theater count

***- Average/ theater

Opening weekend. dah

Its not suppose to be a thinker, most summer movies are no brainers, if you liked the series or you want to kill a hour and a half go and see it, otherwise see something else, its no big deal.
I don't think they are aiming at the Oscars here.

TV Guide's movie critics generally set the bar pretty low...

"The film's ambitions are so low that it's hard to imagine how it fell short of them."

I don't think it takes ESP or even half a brain to tell if a movie is going to bad by seeing the previews. If the previews look real bad, particulary for an action movie (like this new movie, Stealth) Laughing, I'm sure the movie will suck. Besides, Hollywood has made so much no-brainer crap (Fast and the Furious, Triple XXX) that I can guaranttee it sucks without having to watch it because the previews were unbearable to watch in the first place.

Yeah, and this Dukes of Hazzard looks like sheeaatte too. Won't see it.

Or to put it into terms the Dukes might understand- I don't need to know what shit tastes like to know that I don't want it for supper.

I don't have ESP or half a brain. I'm just a pornographically-deprived pig scarecrow. Crying or Very sad

I reiterate:

I am a pig remember. Wink

You're somewhat right. If you don't need the review, then why was the review presented as an argument that the movie sucks.

The critics also had hard-ons for 'The English Patient' and 'Driving Miss Daisy' to only name a couple of the Academy's finest. I don't know if I actually made it through the Patient.
