I know people wear those tight elasticated stockings to help with swelling and circulation, but the are knee height... and I dont know if they are available here... plus its pretty hot....
Ok sorry I wasnt much help, but if you can find out the name of them maybe you can find some?
(They are the same as what people wear after having surgery to prevent blood clots I think). |

In this heat, if you are standing on a concrete floor you are sure to have a problem. Get GOOD shoes (birkenstocks if they will let you wear them, but anything that gives some cushioning and support.) Sleep with your feet elevated if possible. Try to sit whenever possible during the day. Watch the salt intake, and drink lots of water. You might even take diuretics- that is what my father has to do. |

Could it be deep vein thrombosis? (Economy class syndrome?) These are blood clots in the leg which are propogated by such things as long plane flights.
Had this problem the first time I came to Asia. Brings back bad memories. About 10 years I flew from Ottawa, Canada to Hong Kong via Japan. It was by far the longest plane flight I had ever been on. About 3 days after arriving in Hong Kong my feet and ankles swelled up unbelievably. I could barely walk! I went to 2 doctors and both said it was likely deep vein thrombosis but they weren't 100% sure since it usually didn't affect both legs at the same time. The second doctor did some sort of blood test and prescribed antibiotics and a diurectic. He also recommended my feet stay very highly elevated when in bed. The problem seemed to resolve itself after about a week. Heat and humidity also seemed to aggravate the problem. I'm not a doctor but this is what worked for me. It was a very unpleasant situation.
You might want to visit another doctor. Try the foreign clinic in Asan Hospital near Olympic Park in Seoul. Not too too far from Bundang.

Not with both feet, but one Sunday after a weekend of serious debauchery I woke up at 5 am with one big toe joint swollen up.
Excruciatingly painful.
Went to soonchunghyang uni hospital in Hannamdong, they X-rayed me, thought it might have been a spider bite but they couldn't find any bite marks....
Went home and googled it: It was GOUT! Seriously! Too much living large, fatty foods, and alcohol. Now, we'd had Beijing Duck on Friday, gone to Chili's in Apkujeong for Lunch on Saturday, and a Kalbi Feed saturday night.... it was summer, and blendy drinks and beer were flowing, but my GOD! I couldn't even have a bedsheet on my foot.
So um, haven't had it since. I try not to binge on both food and alcohol for more than a day at a time.
Slim 25 year olds in pretty good shape can get it too - not just 19th century self-indulgent aristocrats. Living large....
