I have an account with ING Direct and thought some of you might be interested in it. It's from the US. It's a savings account and they offer a 3.15% rate. It's a higher interest rate than what banks are paying. You could use it to get interest on what you're making here, or those with kids, you could set up an account in your kids names (you can do joint accounts) and then they'd have their own money in the US. If you want to open an account, if you are referred by someone, you get a $25 bonus (and I get $10:) so if you are interested send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you the referral link.

Cheers,
Spiky

Do you have to maintain a minimum balance? How much do you have to put in there initially?

There's no minimum balance. You have to make an initial deposit, but I think it can be any amount. When I started mine, I just put $1 in it. You have to wait a certain time, I think it's 30 days, from opening the account before you can take the money out, though after that it's all yours.
