So I'm meeting a friend tomorrow night in Seoul. We're both indescive and i are looking for something fun to do. Done bars in Seoul Station, done Itaewon, done Coex Aquarium and Coex and done Gangnam.
Where is there in Seoul which has fun stuff nothing too cultural and preferably near hofs too. |

Look at the view from the top of Millenium Plaza, then go round the bars in Jong-no, all of the neon-lit streets from the belfry downwards to jong-no-3-ga. If you see "Tea for 2" on the way, call in for a brew. |

Yes, I confess I did when I lived in Korea. Made the weeknight subway rides to my g/friend's place go a lot quicker. |

a. a home for bats, usually in church steeples or government buildings, or
b. a tower where bells are hung
In this case, it's that big bell place in downtown Seoul, near Kyobo Bookstore. It's a traditional-looking building with a big bell inside on a corner. |

That's okay because I actually had a subscription at one time!
They had a crossword puzzle and the Times didn't... |

yep you can go up to the top of that building, there's a bar there so just pretend you're going there- no-one has ever hassled me about it.
The belfry I'm thinking about is just opposite that building, and kind of marks the start of the streets full of bars/arcades/restaurants.
I've still never found a really good bar in Jong-no though |

I don't mean to be rude but you people act as if your only choices in newspapers in Korea are the Times and the Herald.
I have hardly touched either of those two virtually identical papers in years since the INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE came out here. And yes it has the NYT crossword puzzle every day. What would I do without the Saturday puzzle?
Hello. Come on guys... read a real paper.
PS. you can have it delivered to your doorstep daily for 20,000 a month (unless it has gone up) |

Back to the subject at hand... sometimes I like to go out with my friends to the lesser known nightlife areas like Youngdeungpo or Mia (not the red light areas). They are jam packed with people hofs, soju bangs, good food.
These areas have a totally different feel from Shinchon, Kangnam, etc... They remind me of downtown in cities like Gwangju or Daegu. It's a cool experience... |

so if you go to Yeongdongpo subway (not the office one?) which exit would you take to get to the bars? I'm all about trying new areas but have spent many hours wandering around drawing blanks. |
