I've learnt from my recruiter today that my E2 Visa, if I turn up in person to the Korean Embassy with my Visa Confirmation Letter, will take 2-4 business days "depending on the mood of the official" (gosh, how professional does that sound?). This is extremely worrying, as I have not yet even received my visa confirmation and am to depart to Seoul next Saturday (20th).

Is this true, about the 2-4 business days thing? Given the urgency, can't it be done pretty much there and then if I have all the necessary things? Anyone ever done this with the Korean Embassy in London before?

Very worried.

I've done Visa runs to Japan, Thailand, Canada, and next week HK. Even in Canada when I had to send the documents by courier (no embassy in my city) I had them back within 2 days. In all other places you take it in one day and back the next. Make sure you check the hours for Visa processing. I don't know about about, but can't see why it would be any different than the other countries.

It takes 5 working days...my english mate just come from London last week and they wouldn't do it in any less days...and he begged them a lot.
They have got a lot tighter the last 6 months.

If you are in a real tight spot bring your flight ticket with you and explain to them that this is your departure date and it has to be done by then.....that should get you some action..

If it doesn't then the only two options left will be to change your flight date or come over on a tourist visa(which you will need an outward ticket for) and risk it.

I received my visa letter in Victoria on a Tuesday, sent it Express Mail with the application, picture, $65, and passport to the consulate in Vancouver by who received it on Wed. I phoned the consulate and they promised to have it processed by Fri. I picked it up in person Fri., and flew to Korea on Sunday.
