I'm sure there were other posts on this topic, but I couldn't find any.
Well, I have a friend coming in from the States to visit for about a week on his trip across East Asia, and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions as to some places he could visit. Also, does anyone know any good travel agencies with good affordable tours of Korea? I'm looking to have him stay a few days in Seoul, and a few days seeing the rest of Korea. Btw, he's not a drinker, so bars and clubs are not his things. Thanks. |

I would highly suggest the Jim Jil Bang at Hwarandae Station Exit #3. It's an awesome experience!
USO tour to Panmoonjum.
Sodaemoon Prison complex.
Korea War Memorial
Toksugong Palace
Insadong
Nagwon Archade~ awesome musical instruments!!
Hongdae Outdoor Market
In addition, Check out the Lonely Planet thorn tree for NorthEast Asia. Lots of good info.
Hoping that he has fun! |

Namdaemun market is great at night, you could stay overnight in a temple- google (or search this site) for "temple stay" and you'll find out about official programs to do this, it is possible at some places to just show up and sleep though. Either way you should visit at least one temple
Seoul tower, river boat cruise on the Han, baseball game- (ah but you said he's not a drinker)
If the weather holds up you should probably go to the coast, where is your decision but I like Gangneung on the east coast for a nice sized town and good beach , Deokjeokdo off the coast of Incheon for something out of the ordinary, and Haeundae in Busan for nightlife and seeing a ridiculous amount of people on the sand.
Gyeongju is very pretty. I don't know how many places do tours of Korea- it's so cheap and easy (barring traffic) to get around on the inter-city buses that I doubt there'd be much demand. |
