I just moved back home to California, and many people have recommended Xanax to ease my fear of flying. I must admit I was disappointed with Xanax and I took three pills (which I think is alot) an hour before my flight and I still felt nothing! I even chased the pills down with a couple of beers before I boarded the flight. I felt a little whoopy for maybe 15 minutes (mainly from the beer) but it did not ease my anxiety of flying at all or help in any way. It just gave me a headache.

So anyone familiar with this medication.....did I take too little (.75 mg at one time)? I was just wondering how it worked for you. Maybe my fear of flying is too strong for any medication Crying or Very sad

Well, at least my plane didn't crash Very Happy

Most anti-anxiety pills need to be taken for a while to give good results. I dont need them, but dont them they would be very effective for the above mentioned use

Xanax is manna from the Gods. Your dosage must have been too low.

Yeah, didn't do anything for me either. I did the same as you, with a few chasers and although I did pass out, when I woke up, became terrified, then sick.
There was something my doctor in the states gave me a few years ago that worked like a charm. If I remember the name of it, I'll pm you.

and i thought you were the anti-substance crusader..

anyway, xanax is bad news.

word of warning.. only drink heavily with xanax if you want to black out.

if waking up next to some random stranger and having no idea how you got there is your cup of tea, then go for it.

ahh.. the perfect thread for my rebirth

xanax are sugar lollies... whatever ever happened to people taking valium for their hassles? (apart from the obvious addiction problems Very Happy )

xanax should be enough if you are not use to benzos or the like. however, diazapam (valium) is the gear that will chill you out real quick..

if you're a noob to those types of drugs, and if you pop a few valium and try to relax, you should nod off in no time

i put it to you mr. bert... let's drop and bunch of xanax and the next day we'll drop a bunch of valium (the same strength) and hear your opinion then Razz

they are different drugs, alprazolam and diazapam..

the valium wins hands down (face down too)

Thanks so much for the pic. Just the other day, someone was talking to me about taking "pills and sticks." (Or are they called bars?)
