yes. getting younger. compare the average team's age from this year compared to last. it's less.

look at the players on their way out as compared to those who are coming in. younger.

and if you knew about your team, roberts wasnt overrated. he , at least, put in 100% every shift and made a differnce come playoff time. losing a leader doesnt help the leafs any. the management are morons.

i do know about my team, but thanks for caring. as i said earlier, roberts was just as much of a cancer in the dressing room as he was a leader. it's a well known fact that he was the main culprit in the whole corson fiasco a couple years back which led to several others being gutted from the team.

so we lose a leader because we refused to overpay his buddy. oh well. the leafs have enough leadership/experience on the roster to take the hit. florida needed to get older/experienced. we needed to get younger. what part of that don't you understand?

if you ever watched any leafs games (which i doubt you ever have by the nonsense you're spewing), you'd know that reichel actually was a pretty decent player here. the only stipulation was that he wasn't producing enough to warrant the money he was getting. but, no worries, mlse has more than enough to cover a hundred sh*tty contracts.

if you can sign reichel, you can keep mogilny for sure!

no. and...wait for it now...it's called...a SALARY CAP. it wasn't possible/logical for us to sign him to a 2-year $7M contract. that's the difference between now and then, genius.

spidey112233 wrote:
actually, mogilny realzes he'll have a better chance winning else where. thats why he was happy to go to new jersey

really? is that why his first choice was to remain a leaf? and that the only reason he didn't sign here was because leafs front office didn't even bother calling him? okay, then.

certain, huh? so if they should succeed, i guess you'll be eating crow by season's end? that is, if you can take the skin flute out of there for a moment or two.

even in the event that lindros and allison should get injured, i wouldn't really see it as a big hit (no pun intended). i mean, we only paid $2.5M on 1-year contracts for the both of them.

so, professor, anything else you'd like for me to enlighten you on? or do you wish to keep debating about things you clearly know nothing about?

toodles.

actaully NO! your arguments are pethetic like your team!! Laughing enlighten all you want, its pointless! i know as much about the leafs as you do and im not even a fa of them and by the way, i hope youe name "poddubny" isnt referred from "Walt Poddubny"?? that would REALLY be pathetic. i hope its just your name! since when are you an expert on the leafs?? im sure you watch SO many games over here in Korea. actually, you cant watch any. so you shouldnt assume other people havent watched a game because you yourself cannot as well! lets see your comebacks:

Mmmm...if lindros, o'neill and allison fail i will be what?

"i guess you'll be eating crow by season's end that is, if you can take the skin flute out of there for a moment or two"

haha! and IF they fail it will be you who be eating your words. never heard of eating crow before, is that a toronto saying??? this is purely speculation, so you have to wait to season's end to find out. so you have no basis for an argument here. ESPECIALLY when, its PROVEN and the ODDS are more on my side that they will miss a lot of time. you have no valid points here until they play 82 games, which they probably won't

and please, thats all you can say, EVEN from a leaf fan that reichel is DECENT??? Laughing Laughing Laughing if a fan of their own team says a player is "decent" that would more or less, mean he sucks, which he does!! geez.. he can barely score 15 goals and is invisable on the ice! the guys a complete loser. saying he's decent is basically the same thing. god, how can a team pay a huge contract to him like that within the past few years and do nothing! if i was gonna keep reichel or mogilny, i wouldnt have second thoughts about dumping reichel

need proff, just look at his stats "professor" ?

you didn't really answer any of my questions or rebut any of my facts, did you stupid? you just asked a few more dumb questions yourself. but i'll humour you for a moment and set you straight (yet again):

a) no, i won't be eating crow should they fail, since i'm not the one who made a guarantee on their health one way or the other...YOU did.

spidey112233 wrote:

b) if we had kept reichel in favour of mogilny, then i could see your point. but we have neither players on our team. moot point. but i guess you knowing as much as i do about my team and all, you knew that already?

c) i think you should give it up already. you haven't made a single valid rebuttal to any of my facts. read some more. study. get a clue. get back to me...

poddubny,

Did you keep up with the free agent signings this past couple of weeks?

Next years FA crop will not be as good as anticipated. It will be smil pickings in fact.

The big names all re-upped long term (3-5 years).

While the youth movement by the Leafs is interesting it is not well supported as the Leafs, after 5 years of win-now at all costs policy have drained their minor league teams of all but a few prospects. What youth are we talking about here?

The Leafs are still old and now have lost mundo leadership with the departure of Roberts and others. Their whole season depends on:

Sundin (solid player)
Lindros (one hit away from retirement)
Allison (whiplash boy)
O'Neil (great pick up here)
Belfour (old, downhill and bad back).

They lost Leech on D and did not replace him. Ferguson played his cards strangely here. There was plenty of young or and early 30's talent out there and he failed to move on any of it.

The Leafs are in cap trouble this year but next year they might be in simple talent trouble as they have no real budding young players pushing up the ranks.

homer,

yes, i have been keeping up with the free agent signings thus far. and no, i'm still not worried.

the big names are getting locked up? okay. maybe the year after. or the year after that. my point is that i'd rather have the theoretical cap space available as opposed to signing guys like hatcher and rathje to inflated 5-year contracts. agree?

the ufa age keeps lowering for the next 3 or 4 years, meaning the free agent crop will keep getting better and better. i'd rather not bother dipping into this year's pool when we're already in cap trouble as it is.

true, we don't have a farm system to speak of. what i mean by "youth" includes the draft, as well. i'm one of many leafs fans who are willing to suck for the next few years to get some decent draft picks.

you say our season hinges on sundin, belfour, et al. i say, why are we only looking at this season? is the world gonna end after june '06? i know we're not gonna be too great this year. i wasn't arguing that. in fact, (i hope) i quite made that clear in my earlier posts.

as for leetch, he wasn't a big loss. he only played 15 or so games for us, anyways.

the leafs knew this day was coming. we, the fans, all knew we'd need a few growing pains years in order to clean house.

take this with a grain of homerism salt, but i still hold firm on my opinion that we won't be the worst of the canadian bunch, and we'll still squeak into the playoffs. there aren't 8 teams that i'd say are monumentally better than us in the east.

actaully heres a couple of facts which ARE true!

Rober Reichel SUCKS and he is NOT decent, as you had said in your so-called FACTS! if anyone was a cancer in the team, it was him!! talk bout overpaid and a floater Rolling Eyes

fact #2 : calling me stupid is ironic. 'coz anyone who roots for the leafs and thinks they made any good deals where almost EVERYONE was in the free market is STUPID. the leafs have no shot at the cup at all! geez.. teams like washinston and pittsburgh (even without crosby) inproved more than toronto did.

fact #3 : leafs are lucky to finish in the bottom half of the playoff seeds.

another fact : you seem to think youre such a big leaf fan and know more about them than anyone else. i can tell you for a FACT, you cant follow them anymore than i can in korea. so you shouldnt say you know more about them then I !

oh and you forgot to tell me, does "poddubny" mean "walt poddubny" ?? if youre too ashamed to admit it, i understand Laughing
