BTW, I'd add "...and as long as they pay me on time" to these lists of conditions posters have mentioned.

How about "just don't call me late for dinner"?

If I were ever to try and teach, I'd have to go full-on circus, since I'd be too nervous to attempt a serious lecture. So I'd have them call me either "Guru Teacher" or, when I'm in costume, "Harry the Jackass". There'd be me up in the front of the costume, and my co-teacher would be behind me carrying up the rear-end. We'd cavort about the room, play silly animal games, pin the tail on the jackass, sing songs, and the like.

The one major drawback would be the stifling heat inside our costume, particularly in the summer months. So I'd send a couple students out to buy me & my co-teacher some nice cold OB in cans. However, I can imagine the administration wouldn't take too kindly to this arrangement, but I've got that covered.

Director: Guru Teacher! Shocked You cannot drink beer in the classroom! Mad

Harry the Jackass: But it ain't Guru Teacher! It's Harry the Jackass drinking the beer! See?! (*gulp, gulp, belch*) And, if you check your records, you'll see that Harry doesn't even work here!

Was once asked to use Mr So-and-So, however my last name is easily played on by an English word every Korean student knows, so prefer my first name, so not to be a joke of every class. I tried Sir also and most students in the classes that parcicipated in that experiment were very, very happy to say "Sir yes" and "Sir no" and "This is a pencil Sir."

I thought of getting them to say "hey fatso" when they wanted my attention, but in the end it was too difficult a concept to explain to them.

So now I stick to the standard 'pabo teechaw'

My family name is really hard for students to pronounce so I go by my given nickname. "Teacher" is ok with me...as long as it's done politely!

PS: Gorgias....that's fine for YOU but when students call ME "Sir" I politely inform them that I AM A WOMAN!! Laughing They don't realize that a woman should NOT be called "sir". I teach them "ma'am", but most students don't like to use it (except PE majors, who are more into respect than other majors are).

Is there some TV show or PC game where a character continually asks "Who are you?" in a very Konglishee accent? Although the kids all know me as "Adam Teacher", I get this almost every day as a kind of greeting.

So far they have enjoyed "I am me", "The Ghost of Christmas Past/Present/Future", various cartoon character names and "I am <kid's own name>"...but I'm still none the wiser as to where at least a dozen kids in different classes all learned to ask this same question in the same tone of put-on voice.
