That's a little sad.

I don't know who I am, really. Just sort of mucking about. If anyone has any suggestions about who I am please give me a PM.

When I started posting here (over a year ago- yikes!) I was very very guarded. I obscured as much as I could about my background, even my gender. I was interested in learning about Korean culture, expectations, and I wanted people to see me as curious, kind and smart, but not much elese.

These days, I'm more apt to be brash'n'sassy, and have certainly revealed a different side of my life in the latest "how to pick up women" threads.

What am I like in real life? (or RL to the cyber-blooded.) Certainly more honest about myself, and probably less apt to make cutting remarks.

I read somewhere that ithin the first 30 seconds of meeting people (in the flesh, not a chat room), we form powerful perceptions of them:

55% is based on how you look
38% is based on how you sound
7% is based on what you say

On the Internet however, all we have is what we usually only pay 7% attention to... oh and those stupid emoticons Rolling Eyes Perhaps this contributes a lot to how we're perceived differently on a discussion board to real life.

I've met itaewonguy a few times in real life and he doesn't come across like his online persona at all - I can vouch for that Smile

Off-line I'm a real anal, sarcastic, snobbish, politically opinionated, self-righteous, know-it-all little prat. Nothing at all like my personality here.

Actually, I know some really nice people from Dave's who can be right buggers on-line. I've also known some people who weren't quite as nice as their Internet personae would lead one to believe.

BTW, my students think my Korean name is just lovely. In turn, I assure them that Micky and Eunice and Hae-ree are very beautiful girls' names.

Actually that's really what I look like.

I'm a lot more thoughtful with what I write than with what I say.
***edit*** I also tend to ramble a heck of a lot more in writing****
Of course, I'm also a lot less polite online, which I chalk up to the small dehumanization of whoever I'm writing to, and the fact that I'm an A-hole.

Either way, I say about as much that I regret online as off.

Then again, were certain people I communicate and "debate" with here to prove the same in a real live conversation, I would probably excuse myself. The nice thing here is if I lose control of myself and say something hurtful or get mad, I can just edit it later.

Oh ...right, sorry. Er, yes. I am a frog. My avatar is an unfortunate snapshot of a typical Sunday morning after drinking with Australians.

I can only wish that I was as appealing in real life as I am on the internet. If you don't like my posts here, well that just goes to show what an arse I am.

I'd also love a big bulbous bouffant hairdo like Smashie and Nicey in my avatar...then I'd be king; style can solve many of a man's problems, at least until he gets married.

I'm the devil's advocate; I love getting people's goats! Sometimes I would go out of my way and say something that I absolutely do not believe in only to rattle some cages and REALLY piss people off. Clearly I've had some anger simmering in me since I was 12. I wouldn't give it up for anything because it is the source of all my creativity. I make sure that it doesn't affect my personal relationships; but on the net, in this forum I let it rip because I don't give a damn who you are and what you think. You are not real to me and cannot affect my life in any way.

Thats the power of the net!!!!!!

Wow! I feel a great sense of freedom!!!!!!!!
