I'm rererererereplaying this game (At school no less ) and i'm just marvelling at how awesome it is. If you like RPGs then check it and its sequel Fallout 2. The third one (tactics) is not as good but also worth looking into if u like the others.
Other great games:
No One Lives Forever 1 & 2 (fps like austin powers)
The Clue (probably my all time favourite game) and free from the www.the-underdogs.org
What are your favourite games?? |

The usual suspects that make everyone's top 10 list plus:
Deus Ex
Re-volt RC racing
Tie Fighter (Why hasn't Lucas Arts updated this game?)
Mechwarrior Mercenaries 4
Mechcommander2
Ground Control 2 |

Whats M.U.L.E?
I loved TIE fighter, back when the internet was young i joined a website which created missions for you and then awarded you with rankings promotions etc. as u completed them successfully. What a great game (eye's misting up).... |

TIE fighter was great. Took a bit to get over the "wait, I have to kill rebels?" mental block. But once you realized these rebel scum were nothing but a bunch of terrorists trying to put a bunch of corrupt senators back in power, it was fun and easy to blow away Y and X wings.
MULE was an C64/Atari 800 game that had this really funky music. It was a kind of economic simulation with a humorous bent. It was one of the few games that remained playable with four friends hunched over a C64 keyboard.

Hey guess what I'm playing these days- Starcraft!
Haven't played it since 1998, and at the time didn't realize it would have the impact and staying power that it did. Going through the solo campaign again. |

Uh oh, that's not a good sign. How's the AI, the pathfinding?
How do they deal with unit creation?
Are you forced to mine resources, and build bases to gain units?
I'm sick of that. Even WarHammer40K had too much of it for my taste.
That's what made Ground Control II such a cool rts- none of that nonsense. |

Well, even those great games' time has come and gone.
As mentioned earlier, I was replaying Starcraft, but it got stale very fast. Great story, and even the graphics still hold up (that's how good the design and the artwork was), but "you've reached your unit limit, build more houses/overlords/portals" and "you need to mine more vespium gas" gets really old really fast.
And the idea that at each level/map you have to research/build the same friggin tech over and over. "What the *beep* do you mean I have to research ghost invisibility?!?! I had it three maps ago!!!"
Glad to hear Act of War is continuing the trend away from that annoying kind of stuff.
Have you heard that Warhammer is coming out? Could be the big Warcraft killer... those fans are diehard, and there are still Games Workshop stores around... people are still table-topping the game! If they can satisfy those table-toppers, that game is going to make a killing- buy stock now! |
