Jeeeez, there are signs all over the airport about drugs and death penalty. Assuming he was carrying (and that load looks like dealing rather than using) it's is not as if he did not know.
It's also illegal to have sex with small boys in Taiwan - but if a Saudi did so, should he be let off because it is a practice "overlooked" in his home country? |

Right. I will argue that drugs are good for you when you are young, and you should experiment and have a fucking good time.
But I've no sympathy for this cretin, if he's been there several years he knows the law of the land. The sheer arrogance of some westerners astounds me, they seem to think time and time again, that their nationality and English speaking status is going to bail them out. Perhaps someone needs to be made an example of. |

So you think he should get the death penalty then? |

Speaking for myself(not Butterfly):
I am against the death penalty, and have joined campaigns against it. However, if Taiwan has the death penalty for smuggling drugs, then they have as much right to execute a drug smuggler as Canada has to throw a drug smuggler in jail for six months. |

| I could not think that as I am opposed to capital punishment. |

Well, I guess that news takes all the surprise out of this year's Darwin awards.
I'm not pro-capital punishment, but sometimes it almost seems like it's an elaborate form of suicide... |

So no problems with Texas then? |

| 'as much right to execute' does not equal 'I'd like to see executed'. |
