I thought Mozilla was great but something weird has happened. All my bookmarks have gone! Has anyone else had this happen and is there a shortcut to getting them back?
I like Mozilla for it's superior functionality to IE but this is unacceptable. Is this user error or is it Mozilla's fault? It was working fine last night but now all my bookmarks are gone, I'm not a happy puppy at all |

Check your temp files which were created since the incident. Maybe your computer/mozilla crashed and has dumped them in a file, open it up in notepad and you will see all the bookmarks. Once located just transfer it back to the correct mozilla folder. I doubt they have gone forever.
Mozilla has done this to me once I think, but it was no trouble getting them back. |

I had the same thing happen to me tonight.
It came up with some message a couple of times about Firefox not being my default browser which was strange as I've been using it without a hitch for close to a year.
I guess there was some type of technical hitch it Mozilla's end for it to happen to others also. |

| Been looking cant find my damn bookmarks anywhere on my comp:( Seriously pissed of with this situation. The more popular ones are going to be easy but some of the more obscure stuff I think seems lost for good. Going to do a google search. |

Did you at one time onthe computer have IE? And did Mozilla import your favorites from IE to use as bookmarks?
If that's the case than youshould be able to at least recover your old IE 'favorites'. They should still be in the favorites folder of your user profile.
To find your profile, try looking in C:\Documents and Settings
My 'favorites' folder is one of the things I take with me wherever I go on a flash memory stick, along with a password protected file which lists all my account login names, passwords, etc. (It's also my MP3 player, drag and drop functionality). |

| Yea, I loved (past tense) Mozilla. But it started acting up a few weeks ago. I had numerous problems due to it. So they tech guys here fixed the problem by killing Mozilla. I was a little sad; I really love the tab browsing. Are there any other good browsers out there with tab browsing? |

I know this can be done but last time I reinstalled window the first thing I did was install Mozilla and have been usuing that for 99.9% of browsing. The crappy thing is that I was going to back them up the other week and didn't get round to it
Has anyone tried OPERA? I'm going to give it a try. It looks good and after a few minutes of playing with it it seems OK. But then Mozilla seemed ok for ages. |

Hey Keith, Was reading the mozilla discussion forums also last night looking for an explanation. Seems to be a relatively common scenario.
My situation is that i'm only working half days right now and it's really no hassle for me to hunt to and re-bookmark all the porn links that were in existence before.
However they recommended that if you have serious crap/bookmarks you need to find that seems to have vanished accidentally or on purpose to download one of these file recovery programs.....
http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?qt=file+recovery&tg=dl-20&search.x=0&search.y=0&search=+Go%21
I'll no doubt get shouted down with calls of "What are you? A friggin idiot, you can't download DOS files from the Q Drive" But thankfully, A)-I'm too drunk to care, and B)-I'm just basing it on info I read. Therefore I'm just the messenger. How do you like them apples...? |

Started using opera and it seems to be pretty good. It takes a bit of time to get used to the different keyboard shortcuts and stuff but it seems generally to be a fine piece of software. It also seems to load pages quicker.
Hopefully it is reliable. Just in case I'm going to back up my bookmarks. Everyone makes mistakes, it is only fools who don't learn from them. |
